Board of Directors Election Results

David Carrico, District I

Stephen Werner, District IV

We're excited to welcome our newly elected directors, David Carrico of District I and Stephen Werner of District IV, and look forward to working together in the years ahead. A heartfelt thank-you to our election certification team: Carol Gentry, David Kehoe, and Cathy McClure for their time, care, and dedication throughout the process.

Board of Directors elections typically occur once a year, with staggered terms allowing one or two seats up for re-election annually. Board Members play a vital part of maintaining effective and transparent governance within the conservancy by setting policy, long-term priorities, approving budgets, and making decisions that directly affect the health and enjoyment of the lake and its surrounding community.

Staying engaged in the election process allows you to help choose representatives who reflect your views on issues like water quality, recreational use, and community development around the lake. Whether you’re a full-time resident, seasonal homeowner, or other stakeholder, your participation ensures the board remains responsive to the needs and concerns of the entire lake community.

Be sure to check the conservancy’s website, newsletters, or attend meetings to stay up to date on conservancy business.

Adoption of Resolution 05-25-02

The Lake Lemon Conservancy District (LLCD) Board of Directors adopted Resolution 05-25-02 on May 29, 2025. This resolution formally designates specific zones within Lake Lemon for wake enhancement devices such as boat ballast tanks. This is an effort to reduce potential negative impacts while understanding that individuals enjoy the lake in differing ways. The resolution aims to balance recreational use with environmental protection and damage mitigation. It was approved unanimously by present board members on May 29th, 2025.

The use of ballast tanks, wake-enhancing devices, or operation in wake-surfing mode shall be restricted to the area defined as the “Wake Sports Zone” on the official map (seen below).

This zone meets the following minimum criteria:

  • 400 feet or more from all shorelines
  • Water depth of 12 feet or greater throughout

Any operation of wake-enhancement devices outside this designated area shall be considered a violation of this resolution.

Residents and Lake visitors can expect to see new signage at the boat ramp, updated "Don't Shred in the Red" flyers, and new navigational buoys to delineate the boundaries of this zone. Lake Patrol will be out educating boaters on this new rule to ensure everyone is clear on the expectations of the District.

Riddle Point Park Boogie Recap

The 2025 Riddle Point Boogie, held on Saturday, May 10, at Riddle Point Park on Lake Lemon, was a celebration of bluegrass and Americana music, all in support of the lake’s conservation. Festival-goers enjoyed a full day of live music, food, drinks, and lakeside views in one of southern Indiana’s most scenic outdoor settings.

The musical lineup featured a strong roster of regional talent, beginning with Avocado Chic, who took the stage at 2:00 PM and set the tone for the day. They were followed by Them Lasses & The Old Dogs, The Matchsellers, and Mama Said String Band, each delivering standout performances that blended traditional and modern roots music. The evening concluded with a high-energy set from Armchair Boogie, whose dynamic stage presence made for a memorable headlining performance.

This year’s event also expanded its offerings with new amenities for attendees. Primitive tent and RV camping was available, giving visitors the rare chance to stay overnight on park grounds. Limited boat parking allowed a lucky few to arrive at the show by water, while a lakeside beer and wine garden, hosted by Upland Brewing Company and Butler Winery, provided local craft libations throughout the day. A selection of food trucks and merchandise vendors rounded out the offerings.

Beyond the music Riddle Point Boogie served an important purpose. District Manager Adam Casey discussed the ongoing lake management efforts between sets and thanked attendees for supporting the Lake Lemon Conservancy District’s ongoing efforts to monitor water quality, protect local habitats, and ensure safe recreation for the community. With strong attendance, positive reviews, and a strong sense of community, the 2025 Riddle Point Boogie was a clear success both as a musical event and a platform for conservation.
