Now offering Curbside Pickup!
PLUS: Summer Reading, a Virtual Art Show, and more!
Welcome to your June 2020 Library Services Update from NKCPL.
Missing Library items you can hold in your hand?
Now you can get your book, movie, or music fix via Curbside Pickup! Just place your item holds as you normally would--either online (via  nkcpl.org ), or by calling the Library. Once your holds are ready (this could take a few days, depending on where your holds are coming from), you'll receive a notification via email. When you get that notice, just give us a call to schedule a pickup time in our designated parking lot pickup area.  Currently, the Library plans to offer Curbside service Monday-Thursday (10 am-2 pm & 4-8 pm), Friday (10 am-5 pm), and Saturday (10 am-4 pm). These Curbside Pickup times may be adjusted, if needed.
When you arrive at the Library at your designated time, your parking spot’s sign will tell you what to do next. If you don't carry a cell phone, you'll want to call the Library BEFORE you leave home to let us know that you're on your way. If you do carry a cell phone, then once you arrive at the building, you'll text or call the provided numbers. Have questions? Let us know how we can help you today!
We're putting safety first at NKCPL. Here's how.
As we move though our phased reopening process, the Library is taking a number of precautions to create the safest environment possible for Library staff and users. Library staff have been issued PPE to help safeguard self and others, and the Library is utilizing protective acrylic screens at circulation areas. In addition, Library surfaces are being sanitized frequently, and Library items now sit in quarantine for three days prior to check-in and re-shelving. Have questions about these or other safety protocols at NKCPL? Please let us know!
Summer Reading is ON! Read along with us!
Guys, it's hard to believe, but Summer Reading is HERE--and we're going for it this year with tons of great rewards and prizes. Here's some quick info:

Call for entries: NKCPL's 2020 Virtual Art Show!
So excited about this one! Do you have a creative practice that is, in the words of Barbara Brown Taylor, saving your life right now? If so, we'd love to showcase your work in a *virtual* art show we're putting together! Just send us a picture of something you've made (recently or not) that makes you happy: could be a drawing, painting, or handcrafted item--or even a pic of your yard or garden, or something you whipped up in the kitchen. The idea? Art is everywhere! And making/seeing/sharing it can help us feel better when the world seems upside down.

What to do:
Head to nkcpl.org and upload your photo(s) via the graphic on the main page. Prefer to email your photo(s) instead? Send them to abrown@nkcpl.org with Art Show in the subject line. If you could include your name and a sentence or two about your submission, that'd be great. Thanks so much for letting us see and share your work!

The fine print:
Multiple submissions welcome. Open to creators of all ages! Once we collect a handful of entries, we'll collate those into a slideshow at nkcpl.org. The plan is to update the show throughout the summer as new entries roll in. Submissions welcome through August 15.
