Hwy 63 Bridge Closed

Construction Update

The Highway 63 bridge just south of Louie's Finer Meats is closed for the forseeable future.

*If you're coming from the north, you can drive to us as normal.

*If you're arriving from any other direction and would usually use the Highway 63 bridge, find an alternate route - the shortest route is to follow our detour signs going north on 8th Street from Highway 48, 1.5 miles east of Cumberland. Program Louie's into Google Maps or your favorite GPS app.

*If you are walking or riding a bike, there is a pedestrian path through the construction area.

Please note that the official bridge detour will not bring you to us, so be sure to watch for our signs instead. It is a short, scenic drive that adds only about 5 minutes to your normal trip.

We truly appreciate your patience, your support, and your extra effort to keep shopping local. As always, please drive respectfully near our neighbors. The alternate route is not designed for high speeds. We'll see you on the other side.

Heading north? You will be able to go straight north from here on Highway 63 without returning to the detour.

*There is also road work in progress on Highway 63 between Cumberland and Barronett, but the road will be open at all times with periodic lane closures - and less traffic than normal.

The Bacon Run/Walk course will be the same as past years. Start at the Louie's Maypole, turn around at Wickre Dr. for a 1-mile course or at the end of Jeffery Blvd. for a 2-mile course. There will be no timing, but there will be a prize for the first male and female to cross the line in the 2-mile run.

Louie's Brat Haus is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday!

The Brat Haus is in Louie's Parking Lot and benefits a wide variety of local non-profits: community groups, youth groups, charities, churches, and more. The Brat Haus serves Louie's Brats, Natural-Casing Hot Dogs, Chips, Pop, Water, and homemade Baked Goods.

Don't let a short detour stop you from supporting our local groups!

Recipe: Cheesy Meatball Bombs

Cheesy Meatball Bombs are a delightful, bite-sized treat that combines juicy, flavorful meatballs with gooey, melted cheese, all wrapped in soft, golden dough. These little pockets of goodness are perfect as a snack, appetizer, or even a fun dinner option. The savory meatballs pair perfectly with the cheese, creating a surprise with every bite. Whether served with marinara sauce for dipping or enjoyed on their own, these Cheesy Meatball Bombs are a crowd-pleaser that’s simple to make and incredibly satisfying.

Ingredients:

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or pizza dough
12 small cooked meatballs (Louie's or homemade with your favorite recipe)
12 small cubes of mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Marinara sauce, for serving

Instructions:

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the dough: Separate the dough into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece slightly to form small rounds.
Assemble the bombs: Place a meatball and a cube of mozzarella in the center of each dough round. Carefully fold the dough around the meatball and cheese, pinching the seams tightly to seal. Roll gently to form a smooth ball.
Brush with butter and season: Place the dough balls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush the tops of the dough balls with the seasoned butter, then sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake: Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
Serve: Let the Cheesy Meatball Bombs cool for a few minutes, then serve them warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

How to get to Louie's on the Lake

*By car on the south side of the bridge closure. Drive down Main Street Cumberland until you can't drive any farther!

*By ATV/UTV using the City of Cumberland road routes - use the side streets south of the bridge closure; Highway 63 is not open to ATV traffic. ATVs are not allowed to cross the bridge where it is closed at this time.

*By boat from Beaver Dam Lake!

*Walk or bike to us from the north, from Louie's Finer Meats, using the pedestrian path through the bridge construction area.
