New Month, New Fun!
Time flies — about a month ago, we launched the 2025 market season of the Grinnell Farmers Market, presented by Grinnell Mutual. Are you savoring every moment at the Farmers Market? This month, we are preparing to savor some June favorites, including kohlrabi, cauliflower, kale, and more! As the season moves on, we might see some additions of newer produce items, so stay tuned.
This month, we have another exciting lineup of events, including the return of our “Market Science” series in collaboration with Grinnell College. Come learn about Grinnell College students’ summer projects across different days, from roundworms to the structure of networks. This upcoming Saturday, June 7, returning vendor Ann Brau with Compass CSA Plant will also host a cooking demo with Farmers Market items!
As always, take advantage of using your Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) dollars, as well as coming during our new Saturday market hours, 9:30 a.m.-noon! We are only month two into market season, but make sure you take advantage of the fresh produce and one-on-one interactions with vendors until market closes in October.
Savor the season!

Play Bingo at Farmers Market!
Last week, the Grinnell Farmers Market launched a fun, little game for kids — bingo! This month’s bingo has new spots, but the prizes stay the same! One completed bingo counts as three purchases on your punch card — or if your kid doesn’t want a punch card, receive a sweet treat instead! Collect a card at the Grinnell Farmers Market table on the corner of 4th Ave. and Broad St. Bring your own pen or have a vendor sign off on a spot!

Call for Part-Time Vendors
Although the Grinnell Farmers Market is in full swing, we are still looking for part-time vendors! Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis, so apply on www.grinnellfarmersmarket.com.
The Grinnell Farmers Market is a 100% producer-grown or made market, meaning that vendors must sell items that are entirely grown or made by the vendor or immediate family members in the state of Iowa. Help us make this season the best one yet!

A Testimonial From a Grinnell Farmers Market Buyer:
“I particularly shop at Bill’s stand because I get to know him. It feels like a different kind of relationship with the food…like I have a relationship with the food through him, who grows the food. In China, I grew up with big markets so I didn’t get to know the people and their food as well as I do here, so shopping here feels special. So much more than in grocery stores. I’ve now been shopping at the Grinnell Farmers Market for three years.”
As always, savor the season, just like this Market shopper!

| | Event Spotlight: What is Market Science? | |
This month brings the launch of a collaboration between Grinnell Farmers Market and Grinnell College’s Market Science program. What is the Market Science program?
The program is led by college summer-research students and their faculty mentors within the Science Division, meant to bring scientific research directly to the shoppers of the Grinnell Farmers Market!
Shoppers can delve right into the world of exciting cutting-edge scientific research happening right here in the community and engage in fun conversations! The program’s overarching goal is to build public trust and understanding of science in an accessible place — such as our Farmers Market!
Special thanks to Grinnell College Professor of Biology Vince Eckhart for coordinating Market Science dates at the Farmers Market.
