Granville Farmers Market
25 Years- Still 'Growing'

By: Steve Matheny

Have you heard? This year we are celebrating the 25 th year of the Granville Farmers Market. That's quite an accomplishment when you think about it. Having twenty-five years of continuous operation makes us one of the longest established farm markets in the state. With over 50 vendors - week in and week out - we're also one of the largest markets in Ohio. Because it's a milestone anniversary year we reached out to our membership early this Spring seeking special 25 th anniversary banner sponsors to help us celebrate our longevity all season long. We were extremely gratified that five businesses stepped forward in a big way to help ensure that this is a memorable year for our Market. These generous businesses are:

Denison University
The Granville Investment Group
The Jay Stanley Team at Howard Hanna Realcom Realtors
Kendal at Granville
Park National Bank

Please let these fellow Chamber members know how much you appreciate their support of our iconic Farmers Market which over the years has become a Granville institution.
With the help and support of these generous sponsors we're rolling out some special items to commemorate our 25th year. You may have already noticed special 25th anniversary commemorative market tote bags - courtesy of our friends at Park National Bank. In the works are two new Chamber tents proudly displaying our banner sponsors' logos. We're also putting some finishing touches on an anniversary Market T-shirt that we expect to begin offering in July. The 2018 Farmers Market poster features artwork by local artist Paula Colman and includes the 25th anniversary rendition of our traditional Market logo. And, we have replenished our supply of the official Granville Farmers Market coffee mugs which are again available for purchase.
As the season progresses we will be offering some special programming in celebration of this milestone year. In early August we will partner with the Granville Historical Society in offering an evening event during which the community will be able to gather and reflect and reminisce about the early years and history of our storied Farmers Market. We hope to attract many of the early Market principals, vendors, and customers for a mutual stroll down memory lane.
Please stay tuned as our season progresses. August 18th is the date of our popular annual Tomato Taste-Off event and it will also serve as our designated 'anniversary date' for this season of continuing celebration.
