My Fellow Elks, As the warmth of summer approaches, I invite each of you to come together in the spirit of camaraderie by volunteering for our Veterans BBQ this weekend at the Menlo Park VA. Events like these embody the very essence of our Elks community, allowing us to honor and serve those who have served us. Looking ahead, we have an exciting lineup of gatherings, including a special Father's Day BBQ, delightful Wednesday night BBQs, and our cherished annual ER picnic. Your participation not only enriches our lodge’s spirit but also reinforces our commitment to service and brotherly love. Let’s unite in support of our lodge and make these events truly memorable!

Honoring Our Heroes: Submit Your Military Photo for the Veterans Honor Wall

We are proud to honor the service and sacrifice of our Veterans — and now, we need your help to tell their stories.

We are currently collecting military service photos for our Veterans Honor Wall, a tribute that will be displayed [insert location – e.g., in the lobby, on our website, during Veterans Day ceremonies, etc.]. Whether you served in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, or Coast Guard, we invite all Veterans to share a photo of themselves in uniform.

How to Submit:

• Email your photo to: Victoria.m.wahlgren@gmail.com

• Subject line: Honor Wall Submission

• Please include:

• Your full name

• Branch of service

• Years of service

• Rank or role (optional)

• A short message or quote (optional)

Deadline to submit: July 11th

This is more than just a photo wall — it’s a lasting testament to courage, commitment, and country. Whether you served stateside or overseas, in peacetime or conflict, your photo is a vital part of our collective history.

Let us honor you — and let others be inspired by your story.

Thank you for your service.

Meet Our New V.P. For the West Central District

Angela Moore Bio

Angela was born in Glasgow, Scotland. She immigrated to the United States in 1976 after her father completed his military career in Scotland. Her family, including her parents, aunts, uncles, and grandmother, lived in Livermore, California. She attended middle school, junior high and high school in Livermore. Angela graduated from high school in 1981 and then moved to Alameda in 1983. She became a U.S. citizen in 1984. Her son Trevor was born in 1984 and is the first-generation Scottish American in the family. Angela started her career as a bartender in 1999. Angela and Trevor followed her parents to Hollister, California where her dad was the General Manager of a bowling alley, and she was the Bar Manager. After working a couple of years at the bowling alley, Angela had the opportunity to work at Hollister Elks Lodge as the Bar Manager. During a Soccer Shoot event one weekend, the Exalted Ruler (ER), Tim Perera, asked her if she would like to become a member and the rest is history! Angela joined the Hollister Lodge and in 2009 became the first female Exalted Ruler of that lodge. Since that time, Angela has served the West Central District as Chair for Major Project, Veterans, ENF and Government Relations committees. Outside of her Elks activities, Angela worked at Earthbound Farms for 14 years in the transportation department. Unfortunately, the company sold (Life Happens!) and Angela decided to move away from Hollister Lodge and became a member of Gilroy Elks Lodge. She has occupied each of the chairs in the Lodge room and again became the first female Exalted Ruler of the Gilroy Elks Lodge. And then, with one month to go in her ER year, COVID hits and everything shuts down. Life happens again and Angela moved away for a year. Upon her return, she went back to Hollister Lodge for a brief time. But after the passing of her dear mother, she decided to return to the Gilroy Elks Lodge where she went on to be Exalted Ruler for three years in a row. In addition to her responsibilities as District Chair, as mentioned earlier, Angela was a three-time Social Advisor to the Exalted Rulers groups of the California West Central District #1200; the Miners (2017-2018), the Batters (2011-2012) and the Conductors (2012-2013). She has been Secretary to past District Deputy Grand Exalted Rulers, Jim Smith, and Kyle York. As Exalted Ruler, under Angela the Gilroy Lodge was named an “All American Lodge” in their division for the State and National contests. Angela has served as a Procedural Auditor for several District Deputy Grand Exalted Rulers. Angela has one sister, and one brother, one son and two granddaughters.
