Pillars of the Community Award Luncheon Recap
|
On June 6, the Mequon Thiensville Community Foundation (MTCF) proudly presented Andrew Petzold, President and CEO of the Concord Development Company, the 2023 Pillars of the Community award. Nearly 230 friends, family, and citizens gathered at the impressive new Foxtown Station to recognize Andrew for his tireless and selfless years of service to the Mequon-Thiensville community and beyond.
During the event, Wally Sommer, President of Sommer’s Automotive, and Tim Vertz, Founder and CEO of Vertz Marketing, offered personal insights into Andrew’s importance in their own lives, while highlighting his significant contributions to the community at large.
“Andrew’s vision has brought new services, businesses, and employment opportunities to our community – all accomplished while honoring the high standards of the City of Mequon,” stated Wally Sommer during the presentation. Tim Vertz added, “Andrew has always understood the importance of giving back, selfless community service, and using whatever expertise and talents someone has to help others.”
Thank you to all of our sponsors and attendees for honoring Andrew and raising $66,000 for our community,” said Lori Lorenz, MTCF President. Proceeds include approximately $29,000 from a paddle raise to support renovations at Villa Grove Park that will allow for the development of a second boat launch and pier while remaining monies will fund future grant applications received by the Foundation.
MTCF’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in Mequon and Thiensville. In 2012, the Foundation began recognizing outstanding citizens that embody and further that mission through their acts of service and impact on the community, thus beginning the annual tradition of recognizing a Pillar of the Community.

Jane Weirzba was one of Mequon Thiensville Community Foundation's founding members in 1999 and retired from the board in May after 24 years in service. Words can't begin to express our gratitude for her tremendous dedication, wisdom, and leadership throughout the years!
We wouldn't be the Foundation we are today without Jane's selfless contributions. We are thrilled she plans to stay engaged with MTCF's grants committee to continue adding her guidance and expertise.
Thank you, Jane, for your service to MTCF and our community!

GALA IN THE PARK
Bollywood Nights

|
MTCF was pleased to be a title sponsor this year at the Gala in the Park Fundraiser!
The event took place on June 3 at Thiensville Village Park. The gala featured Indian-inspired food by Saffron MKE along with dance entertainment provided by the Mandala Arts Group - a Chicago-based, non-profit that connects people with the vibrancy of South Asian dance.
All proceeds from the event were dedicated to help fund the development of the splash pad and help bring it to fruition!

New Fencing at Village Park
In 2023, MTCF awarded a $10,000 grant for fencing around the baseball diamond at Thiensville Village Park. We're happy to announce construction on the fencing has been completed. What a wonderful way for residents of all ages to enjoy a great day at the ballpark!
In 2022, MTCF also awarded a $10,000 grant for fencing at River Barn Park.
