Meet Stephanie Heiland, Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) New Project Director

A Little About Stephanie...

"I have worked for the HMO Workforce Development Board for almost 6 ½ years now, primarily on youth grants. I am really involved with the local community: Chairing the City of Utica’s Access and Inclusion Committee and being the Utica Youth Common Council Advisor. My passion lies in creating a diverse workforce that makes everyone feel like they belong and providing access to opportunities to underserved communities. I am a firm believer that diversity and equality make the world a better place for everyone.

"The Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant really speaks to my passions: diversifying the workforce by giving women the education, experience, and confidence to join male dominated industries. Females can work in these fields and develop a sense of self-sufficiency in being employed, while balancing their other responsibilities as well. I am excited to be the Project Director on this grant and empower other women to crush their goals!"

This program is available in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Onondaga, Otsego, Schoharie, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.

To learn more about the WANTO grant program, visit our apprenticeships webpage and contact Stephanie at sheiland@working-solutions.org or on Facebook @WANTOhmo
