Update: I-275/SR 60 Interchange Rebuild

The rebuild of the I-275/SR 60 Interchange has been the Westshore Alliance's top transportation priority for many years. The project, which is a key component of Tampa Bay Next (formerly known as Tampa Bay Express), faces a critical vote by the Hillsborough Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) on Tuesday, June 13. Environmental Pest Service has relocated its corporate headquarters to a 7,800-square-foot office space in Bay West Center, a Cushman & Wakefield property, located at 5670 W. Cypress Street. MORE

Frankie's Lobstah Trap Raw Bar and Grill is now open at International Plaza and Bay Street across from Doc B's Fresh Kitchen. Clams, lobster and quahogs are on the menu with a full liquor bar. Also coming this summer to International Plaza is  Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar, Johnny Rockets, and Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar.

Courtney Campbell Trail Amenities Update

Construction on new walk-bike amenities along the Courtney Campbell Trail is underway. The project is funded by Hillsborough County and scheduled for completion this fall. Highlights include:

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, which governs  Tampa International Airport, has approved plans for Phase 2 of the airport's expansion plan. The second phase includes express curbside drop-off for passengers without checked bags and the commercial development of 17 acres of airport property. It's part of roughly a $2.3 billion, long-term renovation and expansion that will allow the airport to eventually double its passenger traffic to 34 million. MORE

Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) is beginning the second phase of its Regional Transit Feasibility Plan, an effort to define regional transit projects to connect Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties. Phase One identified the top five "most attractive" connections between major destinations, one of which is the "Westshore to Brandon Corridor." Step Two is now underway, focusing on a sensitivity analysis of the five connections to assign transit modes that make the most sense.
