After 26 years of dedicated service to our community, Sharon M. Bradley, RN, MSN, DNP has announced her retirement from Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, effective June 30, 2021.

Sharon joined the agency in 1995 as Clinical Director. She was promoted to President and CEO in 1999 and has remained at the helm for the last 22 years. Under her leadership, the VNHFC continues to provide compassionate and skilled home health and hospice care and volunteer visits to over 2,000 individuals and families in their homes.

In addition, under Sharon’s leadership the Agency provides blood pressure screenings, flu and pneumonia vaccination clinics, public health and emergency preparedness services and many health and support groups throughout Fairfield County; each year, 3,800 students in the Wilton public and private schools are cared for and educated by VNHFC nurses.

In the difficult months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharon and the VNHFC team sprung into action to provide vaccine clinics for residents of the town of Wilton, administering over 3,000 vaccines from December 2020 to June 2021. Also due to the pandemic, Sharon led her team of staff and volunteers in continuing the important work of bereavement support to affected families.

Under Sharon’s direction, the VNHFC also manages one of the oldest volunteer-run thrift shops in the country, The New Canaan Thrift Shop. The Thrift Shop has been in operation for over 90 years and proceeds help to benefit unfunded patient care.

Sharon spearheaded the design and construction of the agency’s beautiful home at 22 Danbury Road in Wilton, which they move into in January 2019. The building is a comfortable and welcoming place for patients, families, employees, volunteers and members of the community to gather.

Please join us in thanking Sharon for her leadership and congratulate her on 26 great years! We hope her retirement brings joy, relaxation, good health and happiness.

Construction at The Inn
Construction of a new 1,200 square foot poured concrete patio has recently been completed at The Inn, Waveny's Independent Living community. This new patio is safer and can be enjoyed by all residents among the greenery and open space at the east side of the building.

"The new patio is a great asset to The Inn. The old patio was constructed of bluestone, which presented a fall hazard due to its uneven surface. The poured concrete will be much safer for all of our residents and is a beautiful spot to participate in the Inn's many activities, enjoy outdoor family visits or an afternoon of fresh air," said Katarina Tchakarov, Program Manager at The Inn.
Thrift Shop Grand Summer Tag Sale
Thank you to everyone who helped plan or volunteer, donated or shopped at our first New Canaan Thrift Shop Tag Sale! The event was great fun and we were able to spread the word that our wonderful Thrift Shop exists to help fund VNHFC patient care in our local community. Not only did we raise funds, but we attracted new volunteers and raised awareness about all the services we offer. Please visit us at the Thrift Shop throughout the year at 2 Locust Avenue, New Canaan. Click here to learn more.
