Pacific Institute Project Receives One Water Award

The Pacific Institute's work increasing the efficiency of water systems just received a major award. Our work with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles has received a One Water Award from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. 

The project, created in collaboration with Sensor Industries and Bonneville Environmental Foundation, installed over one thousand toilet leak detection sensors in eight HACLA-owned affordable housing properties across the city. This reduced water use by 10% and has already saved millions of gallons. The project has helped HACLA achieve its water sustainability goals, streamline property maintenance, and reduce water and wastewater costs.

Pacific Institute Research Specialist Dr. Emilio Mateo recently co-authored an article for Nature.com. 

The study, titled “Thin and ephemeral snow shapes melt and runoff dynamics in the Peruvian Andes” explores how snow and ice in the Peruvian Andes affect water supply.

CEO Water Mandate to Host “Collective Actions for Water Resilience” at London Climate Week

The CEO Water Mandate will host a sold-out event during London Climate Week. “Collective Actions for Water Resilience” will be held on June 23. 

Focused on Europe’s water-stressed basins, the event brings together companies leading on water stewardship. The event will be attended by UN Global Compact members and others advancing water resilience strategies.

CEO Water Mandate to be Featured at AWS Global Water Stewardship Forum

The Pacific Institute’s work engaging businesses to take action on water will be featured at the AWS Global Water Stewardship Forum and the Edinburgh WaterLogues in Scotland June 24-26. The forum will feature the CEO Water Mandate, a partnership between the Pacific Institute and the United Nations Global Compact that engages more than 450 endorsing companies from around the world.

Hosted by the Alliance for Water Stewardship, the forum unites experts, implementers, and stakeholders to share learnings on water stewardship practices. 

Pacific Institute’s Mark Cassalia to be Featured at Industrial Water Solutions Conference

Join CEO Water Mandate Senior Engagement Manager Mark Cassalia for the Industrial Water Solutions Conference in Columbus, Ohio, June 23-25.

Hosted by the WateReuse Association and the Water Environment Federation, Mark will share valuable insights into sustainable water management strategies and corporate water action.

Pacific Institute Program Manager Cora Snyder was featured at the California Water Efficiency Partnership Peer to Peer 2025 on May 28.

She moderated the session, “Speaking Their Language: Effective Communication with Commercial Customers,” which provided candid insights, fresh perspectives, and practical tips for building partnerships that drive real water savings.

Pacific Institute’s Becky Anderson Featured in WaterNow Alliance Webinar

Pacific Institute Research Specialist for Water and Climate Equity Becky Anderson was featured in a webinar hosted by WaterNow Alliance on June 5.

The webinar, “Building Resilience in Rural Water Systems (Part 2),” explored practical strategies for advancing community resilience. It featured research insights and highlighted real-world examples of successful approaches piloted by water and wastewater systems.
