JUNE 2026 NEWSLETTER

Go Through This Again?

Sometimes we think, I’ve already been through this. Done that. Glad it’s over. And then, unexpectedly, here it comes again. Have you ever wondered why God allows something similar, unwanted, and difficult to enter your life more than once?

God’s will is sovereign, and like Job, we learn to trust Him and keep walking by faith. After God asked Job, “Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?” Job humbly replied: “It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.” (Job 42:3, NLT).

We do not always understand the “why,” but we do know this: God is always with us. His complete plan is too wonderful for us to grasp. His grace is sufficient, and His peace truly does pass all understanding. Those may sound like familiar Christian answers, but they are also true, comforting, and real.

Why do I write this? My doctors recently discovered a “shadow” on a PET scan indicating that my cancer has moved to my lymph nodes. So, here I go again. This summer I will begin radiation treatments again—10 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 8 weeks. Thankfully, they caught it early. I originally thought I had appendicitis or kidney stones, but the tests revealed something different. Thank the Lord for pain that pointed to a deeper issue.

Thank you to those who have already prayed with me. I deeply appreciate your prayers and encouragement. And to those of you facing your own version of “that again”—hang in there. God is still with us. He has not forgotten us. He’s got this, and He continues to say, “Trust Me.”

Pray for India

Update shared per CB India's Pastor Asish Mathew

Although not a part of our CB Global network, the recent deaths of three evangelical Christian leaders illustrates the persecution faced in India. Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou was a prominent Kuki Christian leader, peace activist, and President of the Thadou Baptist Association (TBA) in Manipur, India, who was tragically killed in a militant ambush on May 13, 2026. He was recognized as a "towering spiritual statesman" and a key bridge-builder working on reconciliation initiatives between Kuki and Naga communities in the conflict-torn region. He was killed in an armed ambush along with two other pastors on 13 May 2026 around 10:10 to 10:25 am—Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou—between Kotzim and Kotlen villages in Manipur's Kangpokpi district while returning from a church conference.

Churches in Cuba

Practical Help in Difficult Circumstances

Pastor Yaisel Lima and a network of churches in Cuba are interested in joining CB Global. Pastor Yaisel had the opportunity to meet with PCN pastors during their Whittier area gathering at Redemption Hill Church on May 28. Pastor Yaisel leads a large church in Cuba and provides oversight and encouragement to more than 600 churches across the nation. Cuban residents often have electricity for only two hours per day, no access to fuel for transportation and heating, and no medical care. Through the support of partner churches in the US, Pastor Yaisel's ministry is able to distribute food to those in need and provide medical assistance. His church is aided by the use of solar power and a water filtration system. Please join us in praying for the churches of Cuba, their pastors, and the many families they serve. If you are interested in learning more about supporting this ministry, please contact Pastor Yaisel.

Back into Social Security

A Two-Year Window to Re-enroll

undefined

April 27, 2026—The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for advancing the Clergy Act (H.R. 227). This bipartisan legislation, sponsored by Reps. Vince Fong (R-Calif.) and Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), would give pastors a chance to re-enroll in Social Security if they mistakenly opted out irrevocably earlier in their careers. “Having heard numerous stories of ministers who feel trapped by a decision they did not fully understand as they began their pastoral work, I know this bill will be a breath of fresh air for many faith leaders,” said ECFA President & CEO Michael Martin. Many clergy choose early in their ministries to apply for a generally irreversible exemption from the Social Security system. The Clergy Act would allow a temporary two-year window for pastors to revoke their exemption and re-enter the Social Security system beginning in 2029. Of note, like other workers, pastors opting back in would still need to pay into Social Security for the equivalent of 10 years (40 quarters) before being eligible to receive benefits. ECFA will continue to advocate for its approval in the U.S. Senate.
