Dear Friends,
As summer approaches my heart is searching for ways to fill an anticipated gap in donated food. I along with SSKP staff and volunteers are committed to sharing food and kindness every day of the week. Last year, with your help, we were able to share 1.7 million pounds of food and provide groceries for 39,000 pantry visits! This food comes from donated and purchased food ($400,000 of food was purchased in 2024). Together we can do this!
SSKP does not rely on any direct state of federal funding though a small portion of the donated food we receive begins its journey through federal supports. Recently, I was informed that we should prepare for less donated food and an increase in need. To fill this gap, I am inviting you to join me helping provide food directly to pantries.
“Join Amy” in filling SSKP Pantries
Will you join me in helping stock SSKP Pantries? With anticipated decreases in donated food and increases in need we are launching an effort to increase local non-perishable donations. The challenge is to purchase at least one item to donate each time one visits a grocery store. Most needed items include cereal, peanut butter, canned meat (tuna, salmon, spam), and canned vegetables. Non-perishable donations can be delivered to pantries or dropped off in specially marked bins at grocery stores. Every single item makes a difference!
With gratitude for you!
~Amy
