Latest News - June 2023

Dear Friends,

Last weekend I was humbled to gather with more than a hundred SSKP Volunteers. The efforts of each volunteer make a tangible difference in our region. Together we endeavor to ensure our neighbors and friends have access to food. Together we carry, sort, prepare, plan, cook, serve, laugh, and share food and fellowship. Our mission is profound, relatable, and attainable.

I am often seen as a dreamer, and I believe the dream that all should have access to food is achievable…together!

The dedicated SSKP volunteers give of their time, talents, and energy to share food and fellowship. Our 5 pantries, 8 meal sites, and backpack support pantry function seamlessly due to the hundreds of volunteers who make up meal teams, serve as meal site coordinators, and serve as pantry volunteers.

By the end of May 2023, we had shared over 800,000 pounds of food which equates to over 600,000 meals. This is possible with all the kind hearts and hands that partner together!

Thank you SSKP Volunteers!

You are amazing!

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

On Saturday, June 3rd SSKP hosted our Volunteer Appreciation Picnic at Grace Episcopal Church in Old Saybrook. Over one hundred members of the SSKP family joined together to celebrate our mission, honor devoted members of the staff, and share food and fellowship!

It was such a wonderful gathering, and we are so thankful to Grace Church for generously hosting, the gift of music from Band of Friends, delicious food from Lenny & Joe’s of Madison, and to all the staff, Board members, and volunteers who worked to make the picnic such a memorable day.
