Welcome!
Meet the ERC's Summer Intern Team
Ty Reinemann - Pesticide Action Intern
Ty grew up in the Wood River Valley and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2018. This fall, he will attend graduate school at the University of Idaho, where he will research wildfires and pine beetle outbreaks.
Ty spent the last year working at Oceano State Park in California where he ran a native greenhouse. There he learned restoration and seed collection methods. He is eager to bring this experience to the internship and assist the USFS in developing a native seed bank.
This is Ty's third summer working in Pesticide Action.
Ty spends his free time running and climbing around the Wood River Valley. He believes that the community must share ideas to solve hard issues such as invasive species.
Jake Gorham
- Pesticide Action Intern
Jake was born and raised in the Wood River Valley and will be a senior at WRHS this fall. He has grown up loving the outdoors and fostering his love for science, especially subjects related to the effects on ecosystems from excess nitrates, phosphates, and pesticides. Jake enjoys taking rigorous courses such as AP Biology and AP Environmental Science to further his dedication for learning and the environment.
In his free time, Jake's first choice is to be outside. His favorite hobbies include fishing on the Big Wood, hiking, biking, or skiing Baldy or the Galena Trails. Jake is excited for this summer internship and to be a part of all that the ERC and USFS have to offer.
Emily Thayer - Recycling Outreach and Action Intern
Having grown up in the Wood River Valley, Emily has always had a deep love for nature and the outdoors.
Now, she is fostering her love for the outdoors at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she is studying Anthropology and Environmental Sustainability, with a minor in Spanish. During her time at school, she loves exploring the beautiful central coast while being a dedicated student and soaking up every bit of knowledge she can about people, the environment, and how we can work together to protect it.
As the ERC's Recycling Outreach and Action Intern, Emily is excited to educate and raise awareness about sustainable recycling practices in Blaine County. She is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that has given her so much!
