95th ANNUAL DELAWARE COUNTY FARM TOUR

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County is holding its 95th annual Delaware County Farm Tour on Friday July 11th. The first stop will be hosted by Harmonie Farms (10790 NY-30, Downsville, NY 13755), the Mattson family, beginning at 11:00 AM.

 

The second stop will be hosted at Brookside Maple and Farm (2544 Co Rd 2, Delancey, NY 13752), owned and operated by Matt, Micah and Caroline Scobie, beginning at 1:00 PM with lunch. Bring your own lunch; milk and ice cream will be provided. During lunch we will hear from Delaware County Dairy Ambassador Lillian Eklund on her team’s dairy promotions efforts.

GREEN CONNECTIONS

Students from Stamford Central School and NYC PS130 came together for their Green Connections Partnership on June 13th. Students climbed Mt. Utsayantha in Stamford before listening to a presentation by NYS DEC. This program is made possible by WAC, and teaches NYC students where their water comes from, while showcasing to NYC Watershed students where our water goes!

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

CONSERVATION PLANNER

The Watershed Agricultural Council, a non-profit organization working to protect the NYC Watershed, while supporting farm and forest land uses, is seeking a Conservation Planner. The Conservation Planner will be responsible for the development of Whole Farm Plans (WFP), maintenance and monitoring of existing WFPs and the implementation of conservation practices within the West of Hudson Catskill/Delaware Watershed region of the New York City drinking water supply. The Conservation Planner works under the direct supervision of the Whole Farm Planning Coordinator and in an interagency team setting to develop whole farm plans and nutrient management plans. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The Watershed Agricultural Council, a non-profit organization working to protect the NYC Watershed, while supporting farm and forest land uses, is seeking an Administrative Assistant to the Agricultural Program. The Administrative Assistant will provide direct support to the Agricultural Program and Procurement and Contract Coordinator with the Best Management Practice contract and procurement procedures of the Watershed Agricultural Council.
