STEM Afterschool Fellows Program
Paid Summer Course for SDP Staff

The Philadelphia Education Fund’s Afterschool STEM Fellows Program is a professional development series designed for School District of Philadelphia (SDP) staff who work at public schools and seek to create or enhance existing afterschool programs. Whether participants administer afterschool programs or work directly with students, PEF's McKinney Center for STEM Education will offer STEM content and teaching strategies, hands-on learning, and peer support
  • Two identical courses will each serve up to 25 participants. Courses are planned for in-person but, as the Pandemic shifts, may convert to virtual.
  • Each course will offer a stipend, a community of practice, resources, and act 48 credits. Each will meet two times a week, from 9:30-11:30 AM.
  • Course #1: Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning 7/12 ending on 8/4.
  • Course #2: Mondays & Wednesdays beginning on 7/25 and ending on 8/17.

Seeking External Evaluator
Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective

The Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective is seeking an external evaluator to implement a mixed-method, formative and summative evaluation of the Collective. This consultant will gather baseline data and create tools to measure indicators and outcomes. This individual or organization must have extensive evaluation experience and expertise. Pennsylvania STEM Coalition

The Pennsylvania STEM Coalition, managed by the Pennsylvania Statewide STEM Ecosystem, will not present its twice-monthly webinar over the summer (June through August). These will resume in the fall. However, you can still register for the Coalition, if you have not already, to receive periodic STEM education updates.

Master Class in Psych 101:
Student Mental Health and COVID

Please join the Philadelphia Education Fund for lunch on Thursday, June 16 for this year’s Educate Philly. Back in person at The Union League of Philadelphia, we will be joined by Honorary Co-Chair, Dr. William R. Hite, Jr. The event will also feature a Master Class in Psych 101: Student Mental Health and COVID. and will celebrate our Rising Star and Shining Star student awardees. This fundraiser supports needs-based college scholarships, STEM programming, teacher training, middle-school career exploration, and so much more. Donald McKinney was a beloved chemistry teacher, who founded the Philadelphia Education Fund’s Math and Science Coalition. In recognition of his commitment to and passion for STEM Education, the Philadelphia Education Fund has organized its STEM Initiatives within the Donald McKinney Center for STEM Education.
