On June 19th, hundreds of citizens will descend on Harrisburg to advocate for bipartisan legislation that will transition Pennsylvania to 100% renewable energy to help solve climate change.

The Health and Climate Affects of Shale Gas
|
|
On June 10, PA legislators were invited to hear a panel of experts discuss recent publications detailing the adverse health, environmental, economic,climate impacts of shale gas development.

Medical Society Consortium on Climate Change
|
In late April, several representatives from PSR Philadelphia/PA and Harrisburg traveled to Washington D.C. to attend The Medical Consortium on Climate and Health, with 23 other medical societies and 32 affiliated health organizations. On the Sunday of this conference, these organizations were educated on the latest on climate change and health. On Monday, PSR Philadelphia/PA met with 7 Pennsylvania congressional officials to discuss these issues. Pictured below is Congressman Mike Doyle who represents the 18th District of Pennsylvania. Rally for our Right to Breathe
|
On June 1, 2019, PSR Philadelphia/PA's Medical Advocacy Director Tammy Murphy spoke at the Right to Breathe Rally, to advocate for clean air in South & Southwest Philly. Before this day, it had been three years since political action had occurred at the Philadelphia Energy Solution's oil refinery gate. Hundreds of conversations & three campaign victories later, it was time to return to the site of injustice. On this day, protestors rallied for health, future generations and a green economy that works for ALL.

of A Proposed Methane Gas Compressor in Weymouth
Greater Boston PSR released a powerful new report in May regarding the extreme threats to health posed by the proposed Weymouth compressor station. The compressor station is proposed to be built on a small plot of land in a heavily populated area, adjacent to a bridge, a power plant and a sewage pumping station. The surrounding low-income communities would face extreme difficulties evacuating in case of an explosion. Click

UN arms official says risk of nuclear war at highest level since WW2:
The head of the United Nations' Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Renata Dwan, said that the risk of nuclear war, and the risks of the use of nuclear weapons, is "higher now than anytime since World War II". She insists that it is now time for the UN Security Council to think about how to act and manage this increasing risk. Click
