Your Community Update

Bainbridge and Kitsap Pride | Honoring Juneteenth

We celebrate and honor all LGBTQ+ voices, culture, and experiences, along with all historically underrepresented groups, and believe in the ongoing movement for equality. A special shout-out for this month's Pride Festival celebration on July 15th at Waterfront Park!

Come join the Juneteenth Community Celebration on Sunday, June 18th at the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center & Waterfront Park from 2-4pm. While we will celebrate the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to free the remaining enslaved people in the United States, we also remember the tragic history of slavery in our country.

Bring the whole family to Waterfront Park to learn more about Juneteenth from local speakers, musicians, and artists. Purchase West African food from Aunt Dolly's or bring your own picnic. BCF is proud to help support this event. We'll see you there.

Join the Movement!

Bainbridge Gives, the funding phase of BCF's Community Grants Cycle (CGC), is open through Sunday, June 18! These are your final days to join the movement.

This year, 65 of the 68 applicants were approved by 53 CGC volunteers from the community, resulting in over $600,000 in requestswhich is the largest number of applications and funding requests BCF has ever received.

Proposals include supporting mental health services and counseling for vulnerable populations, expanding creative education for youth through arts and cultural activities, and providing childcare tuition assistance for low-income families. Every request fulfills a community need within the sectors of arts and culture, animal welfare, education, environment, recreation, health, housing, and human services.

Bainbridge Gives is the way you can help support these incredible proposals this year! BCF will cover your credit card transaction fees and and 100% of your donation goes directly to the grant request.

Check out BainbridgeGives.org to learn more, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see pictures and read stories about this year's proposals!

NOTE: If you have a charitable giving fund with BCF (or elsewhere) and would like to partner in supporting these requests, we’re happy to assist. Please contact Debbie Kuffel (debbie@bainbridgecf.org) with any questions.
