Barrett Sotheby's Senior Prom Stroll
shines despite the weather
Celebrating the 20th year of this great tradition, our new sponsor
Barrett Sotheby's International Realty made a big splash by distributing sun glasses, bottled water and key chains.  The rain held off, as the Class of 2017 posed and promenaded in front of hundreds of family and friends. Many thanks to New England Nurseries, Callahan Karate, Jan Van Steenwijk, Carlton & Duran, Hanscom Federal Credit Union, DPW, John Gibbons, Bedford TV,  Bedford Police Dept. and the Class of 2017 for another wonderful memory.

Jenn Quinn elected as a corporator
at Emerson Hospital

Jenn Quinn, President of ComForCare Home Care
Sarah Fletcher and Jennifer Quinn, of Westford, recently were elected as corporators of Emerson Hospital to represent the health interests of the 25 communities served by the hospital.
Emerson relies on its volunteer corporators as ambassadors of the hospital, communicating information about the hospital's programs and services to the residents and businesses in their communities. Corporators also elect the hospital's board of directors and new corporators each year at the hospital's annual meeting.
Fletcher has nonprofit experience working with the Roudenbush Community Center, the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce and Westford Community Access Television, as well as serving as vice president and communications chair for the Westford Business Association.
Quinn is the president and owner of Westford-based ComForCare Home Care, which focuses on quality care for seniors in their homes, and is also involved with the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce and the Care Transitions Committee at Emerson Hospital.

Can Your Business Wall Host a Local Artist ?

The Culture and Arts Working Group had another productive meeting on May 24 discussing several initiatives to elevate Bedford's cultural and arts community to enliven Bedford places, gatherings, and business climate. The group has participants from the Bedford Cultural Council, Selectmen, Chamber of Commerce, First Parish, Planning Board, Bedford Arts and Crafts Society, BCA Photo Group, the Bedford Citizen, and local businesses and artists, and is being facilitated by Alyssa Sandoval, Bedford's Economic Development Director.

The working group discussed moving forward on several initiatives including:
  • Community-wide utility box art program by local artists
  • Commercial space for Local Artists
  • Cultural and Arts Flyer

If your business would be interested in hosting wall or window space for local artists, please contact Alyssa Sandoval, Economic Development Director, at [email protected] or 718-275-1111. Hosting local art in your venue can be good for your business' visibility and helps to highlight local artwork.

2nd Annual Summer Walk About

Pack dinner and a blanket or folding chairs, and picnic at Veterans Memorial Park, where you will be able to play and dance with your family, friends, and neighbors while being entertained by local musicians Stacy and the Party. Area businesses will be providing light refreshments and activities for all ages! Sponsored by the Bedford Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Economic Development and Healthy Bedford, this summer Walkabout is made possible with support from corporate sponsor Barrett Sotheby's International Realty. See the "Healthy Bedford" Facebook page for additional details!
 Business Development Update

1. Planning: Another hotel is being considered for Crosby Drive. This would be in a different location then the hotel previously proposed for Crosby Corporate Center.
2.Minuteman Bikeway Wayfinding Project: There has been some debate between the bike committee and some other groups in terms of the final design of the signs. This is expected to be resolved soon. The project will adds signs to the Bikeway which should help increase bike and foot traffic to nearby retailers.
3. Swap and Drop: The event went
very well with a lot of traffic along with donated and swapped items. They could use some more volunteers. The group had a brief discussion on some ideas to get more businesses involved. Localc ompanies are usually looking for additional volunteer opportunities beyond picking up trash.
4. Restaurants. The group had a long discussion on some feedback from restaurants regarding the Board of Health. It was thought that talking to BOH about best practices that restaurants should follow would be a good way to start to facilitate a conversation.
