Prayer Requests

We appreciate all of your prayer requests each week! We want to continue praying for all individuals because we know how powerful prayer is in the lives of so many.  On the first of the new month, we will restart the prayer list.  If someone needs to stay on the list, just let Bethany know by using the worship card found in the weekly bulletin, calling the church office (262.248.4211), emailing Bethany at secretary@immanuellg.org , or dropping off a note in the church office.  We want your requests, so we can continue praying for those in need.

MISSION

Have You Heard of Café?

Café is an on-line magazine for young adult women who want to build their faith.   It incorporates a Lutheran perspective for women of Christian faith or simply for any woman who is interested in how faith relates to the issues that women face today.  Readers and writers of Café include pastors, seminary and college students, and other young adult women who use Café as a Bible study resource individually or with their congregation.   An interesting recent article, "Finding Authentic Community", discusses on how hard it is to meet new people and form authentic relationships and shares some ideas on how to make it easier.  To read the full article and to find more articles like this one, visit...  http://www.boldcafe.org/

Tree House

The Tree House is in need of ongoing supplies...these include certain snacks, toys, books, "Lovie" blankets, etc.  Often times, children arrive hungry, thirsty and haven't eaten in a while or may be at The Tree House for several hours.  Items such as individually sealed crackers, juice boxes, bottled water, packaged fruit snacks or other healthy packaged, non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated.
Also, upon completing the forensic interview, physical exam and/or counseling session, all children are offered a small toy or game.  These items must be NEW in accordance with Children's Hospital rules.  Examples would be board games, action figures, dolls, books, crafts or activities, sports items, stuffed animals, hot wheels, and/or toy trucks.  The cost for these items range between $5 to $10.  Anyone who would like to shop for these items is welcome to.  Another option is to make a monetary contribution.  Checks should be written to the WCAC and sent to W4063 Hwy NN, Elkhorn 53121.  Indicate on the memo line that your donation is for "snacks" or "toys".  You will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
Please place any donations you may have in the box marked with the WCAC sign on it which is located in the Gathering Space next to a Poster regarding The WCAC/Tree House.  Please remember that the advocacy center is a division of Children's Hospital of Milwaukee and requires that all toys, books, etc. must be NEW and should not be wrapped.  Check out the website for more information on the WCAC and how you can be of assistance...  www.wcac4kids.org .
If you, your family or members of a small group or other ministry group would like to join in bringing joy to these children and families, please contact Evie Schulz for further information. You will be blessed for being a blessing.

COMING SOON... A Vibrant New Ministry "HEARTS TO CARE"
God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help others... 1 Peter 4:10-11

Mission Statement:   The members and friends of Immanuel Lutheran Church will be shown that they are valued and loved by receiving care in those areas of their lives that they are no longer equipped to handle by allowing this ministry the privilege of tending to their needs with compassion, respect and confidentiality.

Hearts to Care Core Team  will be meeting on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.  Our next meeting will be on June 1st at 1:00pm in the office conference room.  All interested members who wish to become a core team member are encouraged to attend.  Please contact Evie Schulz with any questions you may have.

Care Team

The Care Team will meet again on Wednesday, June 14th at 7:00 pm.   This is an important time for us to share and communicate about the shut-in members we are caring for. All our welcome to attend.  Please contact Kristin Larkin at 414-491-1969 or email  her at  kristinlarkin@yahoo.com  with any questions or concerns. Also, if you have names of members who have indicated they would be in need of a visit from the Care Team please let Kristin or Bethany know and they will be added to the list of people enjoying visits from this wonderful ministry.

"Stitchin' for Kids"

The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works.  They will be making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect.  Age range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age.  This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "Lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.   If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly besides the fact that it's fun!  Contact Jackie Kuehl for more information.   Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket).  Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Bethany in the church office.  If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line.   The Wednesday morning quilters plan to have this as an ongoing project.  Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.

Community Connection Meal

Our next Community Connection Meal will be on Thursday, June 15th  from 5:15pm-6:30pm. Remember all of our Community Meals are FREE to those in our community who are hungry, lonely or need fellowship. If you know someone who could use fellowship and a meal, invite them to dinner. Want to help? Volunteers are needed to help prep on Wednesday, June 14th starting at 1:00pm and/or Thursday, June 15th starting at 4:00pm. We would also love folks to donate any kind of apple desserts for this meal.  Please contact Linda Martin at  linnywain0323@gmail.com  if you can volunteer or donate desserts. We'd like to extend a big thank you to all the people that volunteered in May and contributed the many wonderful desserts our guests enjoyed.  Thank you for your continued support of this ministry.

Visit www.Immanuellakegeneva.org   or contact the church office for more information. We have authorization forms in the church office. We thank you for your continued support!

THANKS

  +     Dear Friends at Immanuel,
It was overwhelming to receive so many Birthday cards for my 100 th year from members at Immanuel.  Thank you very much!  Attending worship services at Immanuel in my younger years was very special to me, also serving as organist.  Thanks be to God!!
Sincerely, Arlene Pahl Franklin

+     Thank you for all the cards and prayers over the many years for my mother, Vivian Spanjer.  She passed on May 8th and joined my Dad and Brother in Heaven, so she had a GREAT Mother's Day!   Sincerely, Sandy Anselmo

+     Thank you to Adam and all of the members of the praise team for performing at our wedding. You all were amazing! Everyone loved you guys! You made our wedding something very special, Thank you so much! ~ Drew and Sherri Meyers

+     Thank you for the opportunity to experience the Synod assembly!  Our eyes were opened to the much bigger church we are a part of, which was exciting.  The church goes way beyond the walls of our building, beyond our community - to hear all about the places God is at work:  Global missions, new start churches, disaster response, raising up new leaders.  We came away excited and overwhelmed, but praying for God's spirit to guide us on how to bring this back to Immanuel, piece by piece.  ~ Judy & Steve Guy

+     Thank you to Mike Brooks, Adam Smith, Holly Schmidt, Heidi Otterness, Robyn Bakken, Jennifer and Mikella Plitzuweit, and Stephanie Ruby, who helped make the Bells of Immanuel a beautiful experience.  Your time and dedication is what makes the Bells of Immanuel what it is.  And a very special thank you to Michael Ruby who so kindly helps with the set up and take down for the bells, his help is so appreciated and I never even have to ask.  I hope that the summer treats everyone kind and I can't wait for the Bells of Immanuel to start again in the fall.
~ Ellen Hanson

+     Dear Immanuel Church family and friends,
Thank you for all of your prayers, concerns, love, and hugs during the last months of my mother's life.  Thank you, Pastor Martha, for visiting mom in the nursing home and giving her communion at the end.  Thanks to everyone who sent cards and wrote words of encouragement.  It meant so much to me.  Thanks also to all who helped with mom's funeral service and luncheon.  Everything was truly appreciated.
God's blessings to all ~ Ruth's Johnson's family,  Elaine and Wayne Vorpagel and family
