News from Mama Love
I hope you have been having a wonderful spring! I'm enjoying the best spring weather we've had in years! Everything is so green here in Chico (something that rarely happens) and the birds are singing up a storm. I don't seem to have a theme this month but I have written about a number of topics: Water Violet and Rabbitbrush flower essences (both for sensitive people but in very different ways), Star Thistle for prosperity issues, and about how flower essence healing can proceed quickly or slowly and how important it can be to stick with the process long enough for the healing to hold. I also wanted to introduce the idea of using journaling as a practice to support your flower essence journeys—and I have spiral-bound notebook-journals with my art on the cover to inspire you to do so. All that below . . .

John Steinbeck quote: "Men do change, and change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass.” Steinbeck felt that change can come subtly, almost imperceptibly, yet have a profound impact over time. I find that flower essences can frequently act that way.

It's been a longtime fascination for me: why are so many flowers named something related to what they are used for as a flower essence? It happens A LOT. . . As a case in point, let's talk about rabbits and Rabbitbrush flower essence.

Solitude can be a wonderful thing for people who fit the profile of the type of person who could use Water Violet flower essence. Of course, that person might not think they NEED to use it! "What's wrong with loving solitude?," they might ask.

Star Thistle grows abundantly wild in Chico, CA. It takes over entire meadows and can be found, in particular, in wasteland areas that have been neglected or abused. Unlike in my fantasy illustration, the flowers are tiny with long pointy thorns, and are not, in my opinion, very attractive! But they are very useful for restoring poor soil—something the person who needs this flower essence could really use.

I've been journaling since I was 13 years old and I used to keep every one. I suppose I thought I'd be a writer some day—I have written a few books—but, in reality, almost everything I write is for me. I use the journals to work out my feelings or to try to gain clarity about a dilemma I'm grappling with. I also find it invaluable when using flower essences.
