What's Happening Around Town? |
June 2-July 28 - Live at the Plaza
Sponsored by Coca-Cola and Avenue Pub + The Wine Market, meet up with your friends every Friday in June and July from 6 – 9 pm, on Government Plaza for free, live, and local music. Students in grades 4-7 will get a chance to be paleontologists for the week. They will examine real fossils, hear from from paleontologists, and enjoy arts and crafts. The camp is $175 for University of Alabama Museums Members and $200 for non-members. You can register at uayouthprograms.com.
Janet Mego will be teaching the basics of acrylic painting to students 18+. The workshop will provide group and individualized instruction on acrylic painting technique. Cost for the workshop is $75 and you must provide your own supplies. Find out more and register at kentuck.org.

Beat the Heat in Finland
|
If you are looking to get away from the summer heat, Finland is the perfect place to do so. With summer temperatures typically in the 60s, it is an excellent spot for a summer getaway.
According to fintegra.fi, the Finnish property market is regarded as one of the most transparent and well-functioning in the world. Foreigners can freely buy and sell apartments in Finland, though you do need permission to purchase a land plot with a house. Owning property also gives you advantages in obtaining a residence permit. There is relatively low risk in the Finnish real estate market, prices are low compared to European prices overall, and affordable funding is available.
The best investment opportunities are found in Helsinki which, despite the higher prices compared to other cities, provides the greatest rental yield of 5-8% per year and capital growth of 2-3% per year.
