Thanks to everyone who came out to the Park last weekend for National Trails Day and the premiere of the IBSP Chamber Orchestra. The variety of ways to enjoy Island Beach State Park is astounding!

There are two great events coming up in the next few weeks:
-  Join us this Saturday for a book signing and lecture with Gordon Hesse.
-  June 16 the park will be hosting a Conservation Celebration that is not to be missed!

When you are in the Park, keep your eyes out for nesting shore birds! Beginning June 11 the beach will be monitored by trained staff and volunteers for the Piping Plover. Depending on where chicks are found, beach access may be restricted. Information is available at the gatehouse. You can learn more about the Piping Plover here.

Book Signing and Lecture

IBSP Interpretive Center

Gordon Hesse, author of Island Beach: A Sonnet in the Sands, will be at the Interpretive Center at Island Beach to talk about his book and autograph copies. Want to learn more about his research and his findings? Join us. The book will be available to purchase.






Summer Membership Meeting
Sunday, July 15th
11:00 - 1:00
IBSP Interpretive Center

Join us for our summer meeting and learn about all of the great ways to get involved with and support Island Beach State Park! This meeting will have a special focus on volunteer needs and the upcoming Beach Plum Festival.

Please note: Plan to arrive to the park early! On summer weekends the park generally reaches full capacity by mid-morning. Attending the membership meeting will not guarantee you access into the park.

Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP so we ensure there is enough lunch for everyone!



Membership dues are just $15 for an individual and $25 for a family.

Pete McLain Osprey Cam

Have you checked out our Osprey Cam lately? Bandit and Bay are now a party of 5! Check out their three sweet chicks on our cam.

The Friends of IBSP would not be able to keep the camera running without the generous support of our members and donors. The osprey camera costs ~$5,000 per year to run.

21st Annual Beach Plum Festival

The Beach Plum Festival features food, craft vendors, kid's games, and our famous beach plum jelly and ice cream!

National Trails Day

Despite the call for stormy weather,the Friends were able to get a lot accomplished on National Trails Day. 
Trails were groomed and trash collected at the Swimming Area 1 seining trail, and the A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5, and A-8 beach access trails. Additionally, a  24-foot boardwalk was built at  the A-13 beach access trail with assistance from the beach buggy association, and the s plit rail fencing was repaired at Swimming Area 2.
Thank you to our hard working volunteers for making the trails more accessible!
