Susan, a lifelong resident, lives in Pelham with her two children, Peter and Charlotte. She strongly believes in the mission of the Town of Pelham Public Library and in the vital role libraries play at the heart of a community. Join us on Tuesday afternoons to crochet an amigurumi. βAmigurumiβ means a crocheted or knitted stuffed toy in Japanese. Weβll work on a new critter each month. All supplies (yarn, crochet hooks, and stitch markers) will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
This drop-in program is for ages 13 and up, and no registration is required. Attendees should have basic crochet skills. No instructor will be present.

Join us for the book launch of Pelham author Rachel Cullen's latest novel, Country Club Summer. She'll be joined in conversation with fellow Pelham author Erica Youngren.
Rachel Cullen is the author of eight womenβs fiction novels. Before she was a writer, Rachel was a brand strategy consultant and worked in San Francisco, New York, Brussels, and London. She has an undergraduate degree in religious studies from Northwestern University and an MBA from NYU Stern. Sheβs lived in Pelham for nineteen years, where she lives with her husband, three teenage children, and three Labrador retrievers. If she isnβt writing, you can find her playing a racquet sport or coaching, watching, or organizing Pelham lacrosse.
Erica Youngren earned an MFA in creative nonfiction from Sarah Lawrence College. She was an assistant editor at Clarkson Potter/Publishers, a staff writer for Harper's Bazaar, and she has contributed essays and reporting to a range of publications, including Cognoscenti, Real Simple, The New Yorker, Slate and Instyle.
Books will be available for purchase and signing. Wine and light bites will be served.

LGBTQ+ history is Westchester's history! In honor of Pride Month, join librarian and researcher Allee Manning for a celebration and deep dive into some of the true stories of the LGBTQ+ individuals who shaped Westchester with their advocacy, art, and activism. Expect plenty of fun trivia and thoughtful research.
Former Pelham resident Allee Manning is the founder of the Westchester LGBTQ+ History Project. For more research and oral histories, check out the project's website at westchesterlgbtqhistoryproject.com.

β | George Washington Carver: Beyond "The Peanut Man" | |
Renowned agricultural scientist, educator, and humanitarian, George Washington Carver was far more than just "the Peanut Man!" Born in Missouri to enslaved parents just two weeks before the Civil War ended, Carver was one of the most prominent Black scientists of the 20th century. He developed farming techniques to prevent soil depletion, encouraged poor farmers to grow peanuts and sweet potatoes to improve their quality of life, and was an early promoter of environmentalism.
Join us to celebrate the life and achievements of this incredible Black scientist!

Learn about the ongoing white shark research projects being conducted and funded by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, how that research is impacting conservation and public safety efforts, and up-to-date information on what that research has taught us. View videos and photographs to develop your knowledge of what a shark is and what it takes to conduct white shark research.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC) is a nonprofit organization supporting scientific research, educating the community, and improving public safety. AWSC strives to increase knowledge of Atlantic white sharks to change public perception, conserve the species, and ensure biologically diverse marine ecosystems.

Join Master Yao-Wah Chan for beginning Tai Chi. He has over 40 years of experience teaching throughout New York City and Westchester and is trained in multiple Chinese disciplines.

Get ready to celebrate Juneteenth with the ArtsWestchester ArtsMobile! During this workshop, we'll learn how to do an image transfer using a pencil or carbon paper and paint our own portraits of Black icons like Jimi Hendrix, Maya Angelou, MLK, and more. We'll have acrylic paint, watercolors, and markers to bring your icon to life on canvas or watercolor paper.

Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story Time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children's books in which all children can see themselves represented... plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year, but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is extreme, weather is extreme, or if it is raining. You may call the Library when we open at 10 am to inquire.
