Hurricane Preparation Reminders

As hurricane season approaches, please take these steps to stay safe:

  1. Make an Emergency Plan: Ensure everyone in your family knows it and has emergency contact info.
  2. Prepare an Emergency Kit: Include water, food, medications, batteries, flashlights and important documents.
  3. Stay informed: Watch local weather forecasts and official updates.
  4. Secure Your Home: Reinforce windows and doors. Remove outdoor items that could blow away.
  5. Know Evacuation Routes: Be aware of local evacuation routes and shelters.

Let's all take these precautions to keep our community safe.

Stay safe and prepared.

June 1 - 7 has been declared National CPR and AED Awareness Week in recognition of the need to learn how to perform CPR and use an AED. Every year more than 350,000 people experience sudden cardiac arrest and over 90% of those people die. Having a bystander perform CPR before the paramedics arrive can dramatically improve the person's chance of survival and using an AED doubles their chance again. Here are some important facts about cardiac arrest and CPR:

  • 75% of cardiac arrests occur at home;
  • Only 40% of the time does someone perform CPR before paramedics show up;
  • Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in student athletes;
  • It is also the leading cause of death on school campuses;
  • We no longer need to perform mouth to mouth rescue breathing. The person retains sufficient oxygen in their blood for at least 5 minutes;
  • It is possible that you could break a rib doing chest compressions, but the Good Samaritan law protects you from any liability;
  • Using an AED is easy; you can not accidentally shock someone. Voice prompts guide you through the process.

Watch the 3 minute video at the website below to see how easy it is to perform Hands Only CPR.

CDD Information

Three areas of Majestic Walk Blvd. have been approved to be repaired. The accepted proposal is being contracted. Work will start 5-8 weeks after contract signing. The option the CDD board selected was option 2, “Black Base”. The repaired areas will be milled and the lime rock base removed and replaced with an Asphalt base and then the milled asphalt replaced with new asphalt. Bid specifications are documented in the April CDD meeting agenda package. The May CDD meeting agenda package has the bid contractors proposals. The district has the funds available; no additional special assessments are required.

The next CDD meeting will be held on

Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.,

at the Amelia Walk Clubhouse. The agenda package will be posted approximately one week prior to the meeting, at ameliawalkcdd.com, under the Public Records tab.
