Dear All,
June is PRIDE month where we come together to celebrate our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) members of our community. June was chosen to pay tribute to the Stonewall uprising that occurred in June 1969 in New York City, which helped spark the modern gay rights movement. Though PRIDE month reminds us to honor the voices of our LGBTQIA+ community, we must always work to ensure an inclusive environment where everyone is accepted and uplifted. Being seen and accepted without fear of rejection is core to one's well-being, and the health and wellness of our LGBTQI+ community is of paramount importance.
Bring intentionality to supporting the LGBTQI+ GME community as an ally and/or as a member of those identities: check in on biases and respect identities, create and teach awareness, listen to, and uplift, the voices of the LGBQTI+ community and support accessing mental health resources. Visit AFSP’s LGBTQ Resource Guide where you’ll find ways to address suicide prevention in LGBTQ communities, connect to culturally competent care and learn more about LGBTQ suicide research. Consider taking action by volunteering for an LGBTQ2+ organization in your community or by supporting local queer-owned businesses. Join the Sacramento Pride events June 13th and 14th.
PRIDE related resources in the Sacramento region:
LGBTQ+ Community Centers & Support:
Sacramento LGBT Community Center - Provides peer support groups, community resource referrals, education, training, and cultural activities to empower individuals and build community
Lavender Library, Archives, and Cultural Exchange - A volunteer-run lending library and archive housing LGBTQ+ books, films, and archival materials. Also hosts community events and support groups
Gender Health Center: Offers low-cost therapy and counseling services for the transgender and gender non-conforming community
Advocacy & Business Networks
Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce: Focuses on business development, leadership, and social action to expand economic opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community
PFLAG Sacramento: Offers support and education for parents, families, and allies of LGBTQ+ individuals, fostering a caring and affirming environment
Mental Health and Crisis resources:
Trevor Project: 1-866-488-7386 / thetrevorproject.org
Trans Lifeline (run for and by trans people): 1-877-565-8860 / translifeline.org
The many events this month will help us celebrate our LGBTQI+ community, but also be reminded how far we still need to go to ensure the wellbeing of the LGBTQI+ community which includes ourselves, our patients, family, friends, and colleagues. Please access the resources listed above and know that your local resources are always available.

- Enter incoming trainees with the appropriate status if the ADS rollover has not yet occurred
- Review faculty and program information for upcoming Annual Updates. The ADS academic year runs July 1–June 30, and the system undergoes a rollover in late June

Many specialties have Milestones reporting requirements due during June
