Welcome our Newest Provider

Lydia Rex, MD

Meet Lydia Rex, MD

Lydia Rex, MD is board-certified in Family Medicine. Prior to joining WFCA in 2026, she spent 6 years working at Greater Lawrence Family Health Center in Lawrence, MA as a primary care physician, urgent care clinician, and hospitalist.

Her time working in Lawrence allowed her to gain experience in managing a wide range of chronic and acute conditions within a fast-paced environment, as well as gaining medical fluency in Spanish. She is passionate about empowering patients through education about their health conditions and making patients feel comfortable bringing up any concerns they have, no matter how small.

She has a particular interest in sexual health, mental health, obesity medicine, and in-office procedures such as removal of minor skin lesions, IUD/nexplanon placement & removal, and ingrown toenail removals. She is a life-long learner and is committed to staying up to date with the ever-evolving guidelines and research.

Dr. Rex is originally from Texas but lived in England for 8 years before moving back to the US to attend Wesleyan University, where she majored in both Biology and Italian Studies. She received her MD from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2020. She enjoys strength training, swimming, going to art museums, listening to Taylor Swift, and traveling to new countries.

GLP-1 Wellness Updates

Interested in GLP-1 Therapy?

These medications can help with weight loss, lower your blood sugar, and give you more control over your health. At WFCA, we believe the safest and most effective way to start GLP-1s is to partner with your primary care provider. Your PCP will monitor your health, adjust dosing, review other conditions and medications, and screen for any contraindications or interactions. Ongoing monitoring helps protect muscle and bone health while ensuring the treatment fits with your overall care.

If you’d like to learn more, please contact us to set up a discussion about whether GLP-1 therapy is right for you and the best way to start.

Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness

Brain Awareness Month

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month—a great reminder that protecting your cognitive health is an active, daily habit. Simple lifestyle adjustments play a massive role in keeping your mind sharp at every stage of life.

4 Simple Ways to Protect Your Brain:

Stay connected: Regular social interaction and learning new skills stimulate your mind.
Keep moving: Exercise increases blood flow to the brain and protects neural connections.
Prioritize sleep: Quality rest is when your brain clears out toxins and processes memories.
Manage vascular health: Controlling blood pressure and cholesterol directly protects brain function.

We’re Here to Partner with You

Your cognitive wellness is a vital part of your overall health. Whether you want to focus on proactive habits or have questions about memory changes, our team at Wellesley Family Care Associates is here to support you.

Summer Lactation Support

Navigating warmer weather and seasonal transitions with your little one.

Expect More Frequent Feeding During the Summer

During warmer weather, babies may nurse more often for shorter periods. This is normal and helps them stay hydrated. Follow your baby’s hunger cues and offer the breast frequently.

Stay Hydrated, Too!

Parents often hear that they need to drink excessive amounts of water while breastfeeding. The best approach is simple: drink to thirst and keep a water bottle nearby during feeds.

Signs you may need fluids: dark urine, dizziness, headache, or feeling unusually fatigued.

Breastfeeding Outdoors

  • Dress in lightweight, breathable clothing.
  • Seek shade when possible.
  • Use a portable fan if spending time outdoors.
  • Nurse before long walks or outings.
  • Keep extra burp cloths for sweat & spit-up.

Returning to Work?

  • Check that your breast pump works properly.
  • Review your milk storage supplies.
  • Practice bottle feeding 1–2 weeks prior.
  • Create a consistent pumping schedule.

When to Call for Lactation Support

Please reach out to your provider or a consultant if you notice:

• Baby has fewer wet diapers than expected.
• Baby is excessively sleepy or hard to wake.
• You experience nipple/breast pain or supply worries.
• You have questions about pumping or storage.

Remember: breastfeeding doesn’t have to be perfect. Every feeding is an opportunity to nourish and connect with your baby.
