WDB's Oneida County Re-Entry Task Force (RTF) Success

RTF has had great success with a client JP. She was released back into the community in January 2025 after close to ten years in prison. Determined to really make a change with her life, she wanted to focus on having a career and not just a job. JP asked if she found some type of class or training, she could see herself enjoying and doing, if we would pay for it. We said we would help her find the funds.

She found a self-paced Medical Coding class through MVCC that includes state certification at the end of it. With the help of Charlene Deon at the Oneida County Working Solutions Job Center and RTF, JP was approved for a full scholarship for the course and has begun the class.

The class is self-paced, allowing JP io also work full time, which she would have never been able to do if the class had not been self-paced.

JP says, " I just wanted to let you know that I was awarded the scholarship (Yay!!) and how much I appreciate you and [RTF Program Director] Jeremy for your guidance and support to get this started. It is an incredible opportunity, one I am incredibly grateful for. Again, thanks so much."
