Sal Schibell of LRS will wrap up the meeting with information on Timely Tax matters.

NJ TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE BANK
IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
The New Jersey Transportation Infrastructure Bank is now offering low interest loans to municipalities and counties to reduce the overall cost of local transportation projects.

New Jersey's first transportation loan program, the Transportation Infrastructure Bank (NJTIB) is a partnership between the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank (I-Bank). The NJTIB provides low interest loans for municipal and county transportation projects.

To get started, NJDOT's Local Aid Infrastructure Fund is providing the NJTIB with $22.6 million generated from the gas tax increase. The program will provide an additional $80 million per year for local transportation projects. Loan applications are available at www.njib.gov

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
AND SCHOLARSHIPS
A large crowd attended UTCA's General Membership meeting on June 7 where NJDOT Commissioner, Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti presented the Department's State Fiscal Year 2019 Capital Construction Program. Michele Putnam, NJDEP Assistant Commissioner, gave a presentation about a variety of DEP Capital Programs.

UTCA Officers and Directors for 2018-2019 were elected at the meeting. Joe Walsh of J. Fletcher Creamer & Son was elected as the next UTCA President with Dave Smith of Mount Construction as Senior Vice President. Roly Acosta of Northeast Remsco as Vice President, Glenn Ely of PKF-Mark III as Vice President and Tom Hardell of George Harms Construction as Immediate Past President.

Michael D'Annunzio was honored for his 32 years of service to the Board of Directors. He is Co-Founder, President and CEO of D'Annunzio Group. Mike recently resigned from the Board and has been designated "Member Emeritus".

The 2018 Scholarships were presented at the meeting as well. Lillian Hoffman is the recipient of the Robert A. Briant, Sr. Scholarship. Lillian graduated from Bloomfield High School. The Joseph D'Annunzio Scholarship was awarded to Michaela Pope of Collingswood High School. Gabriel Karslo, a senior at Wilson Area High School was the recipient of the Franklyn Grosso Scholarship.

UTCA presented two additional Scholarships to graduate students at NJIT. The Margaret Cervino Memorial Scholarship was presented to Meghan Vitale and The Samuel Luciano Memorial Scholarship was given to Maedeh Soleimanifar. A total of $38,000 in scholarships will be distributed by UTCA for 2018.

2018 GOLF OUTING
A rainy morning gave way to a beautiful afternoon for more than 200 golfers at UTCA's 2018 Robert A. Briant, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing. The event was held on June 11 at Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale. A new element was added to this year's outing with a "Lottery". Several members donated foursomes at the region's most elite courses. This activity helped raise more than $30,000 for the Scholarship Fund.

UNION PAVING RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY
NJ TURNPIKE INTERCHANGE 14 A PROJECT
On May 21, 2018 a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held at the Interchange 14A Project in Bayonne, New Jersey. The entire Project played in integral part in improving existing and projected traffic flow to and from the New Jersey Turnpike Hudson County Extension and local Bayonne roadways. Improvements included two new connector flyover bridges between the Interchange 14A Toll Plaza and Route 440, widening of structures from the Toll Plaza to the Hudson County Extension, Toll Plaza lanes increased from 11 lanes to 13 lanes, reconstruction of the Toll Plaza building and an addition of a roundabout at 51st Street and Avenue E.

ECA CONDUCTS FIRST EVER BAUER DRILLING RIG SAFETY TRAINING
Equipment Corporation of America (ECA), a leading distributor of foundation construction equipment, held its first-ever BAUER OT-B Drilling Rig Operator’s Training fro m May 7-11 at its Coraopolis, Pa. headquarters. The course comes in the wake of the 100-year-old company being designated a Regional Training Center for BAUER Foundation Equipment, a rare honor granted by BAUER Maschinen.
 
ECA trainers Joe Kinworthy and Jason Church tapped into 45 collective years of drilling rig experience to help operators from several respected foundation drilling contractors improve safety and productivity. The course focused on such topics as drilling rig stability, safe operation, ground conditions, safe working platforms, productivity, and new technology.
