As summer settles into the Hill Country, many members have headed off in search of cooler temperatures and vacation adventures. For those staying close to home, please stay hydrated and take precautions during the Texas heat as we enter the busiest stretch of summer.

We extend a special thank you to the Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance for producing a fantastic month of Boogie at the Bay concerts in May. These weekly gatherings bring neighbors and friends together for evenings filled with music, laughter, and community spirit along the waterfront at Quail Point Lodge. We encourage everyone to support the Center Stage Sponsors who make these events possible: Bank of the West, Horseshoe Bay POA, Arrowhead Bank, and Horseshoe Bay Chiropractic.

Planning for our Fourth of July celebration is coming together in a big way, and we are thankful for the many volunteer groups and organizations stepping forward to make this year’s event special. This year’s theme is “Liberty, Community, and 250 Years Strong” as our nation approaches America’s 250th birthday. We expect a large turnout on Saturday, July 4, and preparations are well underway for a full day of family-friendly activities and patriotic celebration.

Many outstanding organizations are helping bring the event to life. Lake Church will handle children’s face painting inside Quail Point Lodge; STAR Women will manage the children’s games outside; Women Working in Communion and Spirit will donate refreshing lemonade; the Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance will provide fresh watermelon; and the City of Horseshoe Bay will supply bottled water for attendees. The Resort at Horseshoe Bay has generously stepped forward again to donate and serve hamburgers and popsicles for the community.

We encourage everyone to decorate their golf carts and participate in the annual Land Parade. NXTLVL Marine will manage this year’s parade, and we appreciate their support and leadership. Hosier N Friends will again oversee the popular Dog Parade. Registration for dogs will be online only this year, and entries will be limited, so participants must register here using this link. The Horseshoe Bay Police Department will coordinate and lead the Boat Parade this year, and we thank them for their continued partnership and support.

A special thank you goes to Board Director Bryce Harris, who continues to serve as Event Chair and has devoted countless hours coordinating volunteers, sponsors, logistics, and planning. We are equally grateful to all volunteers working behind the scenes who have contributed so much time and energy to making this celebration possible.

The Long Range Planning Survey remains open for member input. This survey is an important opportunity for members to share what they value most in our community and what they would like addressed in the future. If you are a member and have not completed the survey, please reply to this email with your address, and we will send you the survey link.

Finally, we would like to remind everyone about the two Community Education events this month. These programs continue to be informative, engaging, and well attended. We encourage members and residents alike to take advantage of these opportunities to learn and connect with others in the community.

The Davies Offer a Smart Approach to Health & Wellness

by Whit Holcomb

The Horseshoe Bay POA Community Education Series continues in June with a presentation from Dr. William (Bill) Davies exploring an important topic: the connection between oral health, overall health, vitality, and longevity.

Dr. Davies will present “Oral and Heart Health” on Thursday, June 18, at 3:00 PM at Quail Point Lodge. The event is free and open to the entire community. Bill promises to "talk about healthcare today and how it needs to be based on the person being cared for and their specific biomarkers. As their body responds and heals, medication usage can decrease or even stop. Energy and activity levels can improve. Regenerative medicine is happening for many people."

While many think of dentistry as simply caring for teeth, Dr. Davies has spent years focused on the larger relationship between oral health and overall body health. His philosophy centers on prevention, education, and helping people recognize the small warning signs the body gives long before major health issues appear.

“We know from the science what the major causes of death and disability are,” Dr. Davies explained. “The key is finding an individual’s specific weaknesses and susceptibilities early enough to make meaningful lifestyle and habit changes before larger problems develop.”

His approach combines clinical experience with proactive health strategies to improve long-term wellness, vitality, and quality of life. Rather than waiting for disease, Dr. Davies encourages focusing on preventative actions that strengthen health markers and reduce negative outcomes later in life.

Originally from Pasadena, Texas, Dr. Davies and his wife, Lori, began spending time in the Highland Lakes area after many of their children settled in Central Texas. They purchased a home in Marble Falls in 2015 and became full-time residents in 2018. Today, they live in Horseshoe Bay and are active community members.

Dr. Davies sold his Pasadena dental practice in 2020 and practiced at Main Street Dental Center in Marble Falls through 2025. After selling his practice, he donated dental equipment to the Highland Lakes Crisis Network, helping start what became the Agape Dental Clinic, now part of The Ark.

Family remains central to their lives. Bill and Lori have nine adult children and have embraced the sense of community they found in Horseshoe Bay.

“Lori and I enjoy the Horseshoe Bay community for the melting pot that it is and the quality of people we meet and interact with,” Dr. Davies shared. “We want to help make the community even more encouraging and equipping, to raise all boats.”

His June presentation promises to be informative, practical, and relevant, especially for residents interested in aging well, improving long-term health outcomes, and understanding the growing science connecting oral health to heart health and systemic wellness.
