IN THE NEWS

After the overwhelming success of the City of Vaughan’s first ever Festa d’Italia on June 1 this year, which was attended by more than 20,000 people, I am so excited to share we are already planning for an even bigger and better event in 2026. It gives me great pleasure to announce the City of Vaughan’s Festa d’Italia will be back again next year, and, this time, we’re celebrating over two days, on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy this year’s celebrations. The energy, passion and sense of community pride felt that day was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. What an incredible way to celebrate our Italian identity, heritage and culture. Next year, you can expect an even bigger and better, fun-filled weekend with many delicious foods, spectacular performances, art and traditions that reflect the beauty and vitality of Italian heritage. I look forward to welcoming you all back for another Festa d’Italia next June!

I was delighted to see so many generous members of the community attend the 2025 Mayor’s Gala in support of the Spirit of Generosity; Vaughan continues to rise up and contribute millions of dollars to worthy causes around our city. It was a privilege to see America’s Got Talent winner Kodi Lee perform, not only because he is a wonderful singer, but also because of his inspiring charitable work with DANI, a Canadian organization that provides programming for individuals with disabilities. Vaughan is an ambitious city with a long and proud history, one that’s been influenced by champions and leaders who are committed to giving back to the community, like many of the attendees. I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported the Spirit of Generosity over the years and for continuing to give. Thank you for all that you do to help make a difference in Vaughan, so we can build an even better future for our current residents and for generations to come. When we come together as a community, there is truly nothing we can’t do.

RECAP FROM MAY

Members of the community marked South Asian Heritage Month at the City’s third annual celebration. Festivities included greetings, and traditional music and dance performances. Thank you to everyone who attended this event!

Congratulations to Kaylee G., the City of Vaughan’s 2025 Mayor for a Day contest winner!

As Vaughan’s Mayor … for a day, Kaylee spent today with me at Vaughan City Hall, taking meetings, being introduced to Members of Council and City staff, and seeing firsthand just how municipal government runs. She also toured the building and attended a Council meeting.
