MCCC is proud to share that Circle of Parents champion Curt Larson was recently presented with the 2019 University of Minnesota Morris Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2008 Curt took the lead in creating a Circle of Parents support group within the St. Croix County Jail. The group gives incarcerated fathers an opportunity to talk about the joys and challenges of parenting. To date, the program has served more than 100 fathers, grandfathers, and father figures.

Curt’s guidance, leadership, mentoring skills, and compassionate nature have changed the trajectories of the lives of so many parents, families, and children. MCCC is so happy to see his important work recognized by the University of Minnesota Morris Alumni Association. Congratulations, Curt!

As a summer intern, Melissa will be assisting MCCC staff with program evaluation of Circle of Parents and other small projects. Melissa is a graduate student at the University Of Minnesota School Of Public Health in the Public Health Administration and Policy program. Outside of her work at MCCC, Melissa works at Tobacco Free Alliance where she has engaged youth in tobacco prevention education and local policy work for the past 3 years. Melissa is excited to work with MCCC to further its mission and help improve program delivery and sustainability.
