A word from the Horseshoe Bay POA

New Board.jpg

Happy June! From the first days of summer, Pet Appreciation day, Flag Day, to quirky food holidays, this month brings us plenty of opportunities to smile and celebrate. Your Horseshoe Bay POA Board of Directors extends warm greetings to all dads. Happy Father’s Day!

In collaboration with the USPS and the City of Horseshoe Bay, we are identifying the overall prerequisites for more mailboxes in Horseshoe Bay. We are also determining potential sites in which to build centralized kiosks with Cluster Box Unit’s. Please see our Mail Call section for more details and news as it becomes available.

Our Independence Day Celebration is in preparation and we are welcoming volunteers to participate in our Children’s Activities part of the festivities. If you are interested in volunteering, please click HERE or call the office at (830) 598-8795. We very much appreciate your collaboration!

Horseshoe Bay POA Helpful Tips

Gardening is a very relaxing and rewarding pastime. Keeping our gardens green and healthy can be challenging when we have water restrictions in place but it is not impossible. One way to achieve a gorgeous garden is to opt for native plants that thrive in our planting zone 8b. Also, read the label and consider perennials that thrive in dry conditions. For more information on water restrictions, please visit https://www.horseshoe-bay-tx.gov/201/Current-Watering-Restrictions

Summer weather draws many of us outdoors where we can enjoy our beautiful city. Have you visited Martin Park? This beautiful park is located next to City Hall with picnic tables, playground and restrooms. On your visit you can plan fishing, grilling and even reserve the pavilion for a beautiful celebration outdoors. For more information please visit https://www.horseshoe-bay-tx.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Martin-Park-1

King Ranch Casserole

By Omar Webb

When it comes to covered dish suppers, potlucks, or even busy weeknights, Southerners know that King Ranch Chicken reigns supreme. The familiar combination of pulled chicken, spicy green chiles, corn tortillas, and creamy canned soup takes us back to a dining table, surrounded by our loved ones.

  • 1 chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups chopped cooked chicken
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can diced tomato and green chiles
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 pinches garlic powder
  • 2 pinches pepper
  • 12 corn tortillas, torn into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese

Step One

In a large skilled over medium-high heat, sauté bell pepper and onion 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in chicken and next 7 ingredients; remove from heat.

Step Two

Layer one-third of torn tortillas in bottom of a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Top with one-third of chicken mixture and 2/3 cup cheese. Repeat layers twice. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

Mail Call

Horseshoe Bay residents are frustrated with the current lack of mailboxes/kiosks throughout our neighborhood. The HSBPOA Board of Directors is getting to work! Our Business and Capital Projects Committee has created a sub-committee "Cluster Box Units" that will be in charge of re-arranging and re-assigning mail boxes.

Collaboration with the USPS and the City of Horseshoe Bay are ongoing to identify the total requirements for Cluster Box Units (CBUs), and seeking potential sites to build centralized kiosks. There are several behind the scenes actions ongoing so we will keep our members informed as information is available.

We want to thank our volunteer members for stepping up to help.

“Volunteers don't get paid because they're worthless, but because they're priceless” – Sherry Anderson.

  • While feeding deer is prohibited in HSB, it often makes them more vulnerable to starvation, predation, disease, and vehicle collisions. Nature will take care of them, humans don't have to.

  • If you are looking to make any exterior remodels, changes or additions, such as windows, roofs, trees, flower beds, grass, fences etc... you have to get approval from the Horseshoe Bay Architectural Control Committee (ACC), before commencing any work.
