Farewell Gathering for Pastor Karen

Come join the celebration!! Pastor Karen Nelson is retiring after 16 years of pastoral ministry. Clear Lake UMC  will host a potluck on Saturday, June 24th, 12:30 to 3:00pm to honor Karen and wish her well as she begins the next chapter of her life.

Karen has served Jason Lee UMC (Salem), Pioneer UMC (Coquille), Shedd UMC, Halsey UMC, Faith UMC (Troutdale) and for the past 4 years she has been the lead pastor at Clear Lake UMC. Pastor Karen and Greg are in the process of relocating and downsizing, but their life in ministry continues as Greg works for the Conference and they plan to be part of a mission team to Kenya in January. Karen asks that any gifts in honor of her ministry help support that mission trip. Funds received will support the team, provide supplies for schools, and construction costs of a home for and AIDS orphan family.

Please come and enjoy the potluck, visit with friends, and say farewell to Pastor Karen as she follows God on a new path.

Pentecost Sunday is June 4th, remember to wear something Red to church.
Open Door Churches Newsletter Policy

The primary purpose of the Open Door Churches Newsletter is to inform both the wider public and the six Open Door congregations of pertinent news and events hosted by the Open Door Churches: United Methodists of Salem-Keizer. While individual church events may be included at times, those events will only be mentioned when the wider community is also invited to attend.

Each news item and event description must be written with the people who are not members of the United Methodist Churches in mind. When mentioned, full names must be used and any abbreviations spelled out. If the item is not written with the wider public audience in mind, the piece will be returned for a rewrite and only published when it meets these requirements.

If the article announces an event, include the name and contact information of a person who can provide further information and answer the public's questions.
