Mileage Rates

The IRS announced that the optional standard mileage rate is increasing by 4 cents per mile for the last six months of 2022. As a result, effective July 1st, the standard mileage rate for business travel will be 62.5 cents per mile.

If you are a taxpayer who deducts your business mileage on your tax return, you will need to keep track of your miles from January 1st – June 30th and from July 1st – December 31st. When we prepare your return, we will need a separate total for each period listed above.

IRS Notice CP-14

If you received Notice CP-14 from the IRS indicating that you have unpaid taxes for the 2021 tax year, they may have sent the notice in error. The IRS is still backlogged, and as a result, they may not have "registered" your payment in their system.

At this time, don't panic if you received a notice. We hope this issue will resolve itself, and the IRS will issue letters notifying taxpayers of the error. We will continue to monitor the issue and keep you informed of any changes.

Where's My Refund?

If you would like to track the status of your 2021 refund, you can refer to the IRS Where's My Refund resource. Please be aware that refunds may take longer than expected due to delays at the IRS, and we cannot provide any further information on the status of your refund.
