When does the college journey begin? Many students and families believe they don't really have to think about it until Sophomore or Junior year. However, the college journey begins well before that.
In fact, the end of eighth grade is the ideal time to start planning for college, since it is the beginning of a student's high school foundation.
For rising Freshmen, it's important to level up your classes in order to get a good foundation. Make it a GOAL to finish off high school with calculus. You may even be able to take it at a local college during high school. Remember, you won't get to calculus if you do not have it on your trajectory from day one as a Freshman. It's important because regardless of your intended major later in college, the most highly selective universities look for this as a marker of capability.
By becoming involved early on, PCCI can ensure that students are enrolled in the appropriate classes as Freshmen (and each year thereafter) so they start out --and stay--on the right path. This is especially important if they are changing from public to private school or vice versa, as class availability and levels may differ.
