PRENTICE INSTITUTE NEWS: MITACS Award to Prentice Institute Director and student


Congratulations to Dr. Lars Hallstrom and undergraduate student Peter Hurd-Watler, who have received a $60,000 MITACS Accelerate grant to support Peter’s research on political participation and blockchain. Their project is called “Social media with a purpose: Leveraging blockchain technology to create a new form of political communication amongst youth”.

Define the Decade Launch


The Business Council of Alberta released its Define the Decade report on Thursday, June 16th. From the University of Lethbridge website


"Dr. Lars Hallström, director of the Prentice Institute and University of Lethbridge political scientist, contributed to the report, which examines the state of Alberta and sets out a visionary plan to “create a good life for every Albertan.” The plan is the culmination of a landmark research and public consultation process that engaged thousands of Albertans from all walks of life."

PRENTICE INSTITUTE NEWS: Welcome to our new Summer Staff


The Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy has hired five new Summer Staff members, including three interns (Mikailla Holt, Jacob Higham, and Josh Passey), as

well as two Research Assistants (Eileen Sowunmi and Brie Wilson) who will be assisting with Dr. Adebiyi Boco's SSHRC Knowledge Synthesis Grant, entitled "Economic implications of the asocial society: a scoping review of loneliness among young adults across the life course".

University of Lethbridge Pride Events


The University of Lethbridge wishes to acknowledge and honour the diversity on campus under the them "Return to Pride", in part with a flag raising, which will take place at the University Bus Loop at 10:00 am on Monday, 20th June. Other Pride events include a virtual speaker event with Shawn Singer and University participation in a formal Pride Parade.

The APPSA has issued a call for papers for their 2022 conference, taking place this fall under their theme "Emergent-cies: Politics Today and Tomorrow". They invite "scholars, practitioners, activists, and students to submit paper, workshop, and panel proposals that explore this broadly described emergent politics of today and tomorrow theoretically, analytically, and empirically."
