CDO Workforce Development Board Announces New Disability Resource Coordinator
The Chenango, Delaware & Otsego (CDO) Workforce Development Board is pleased to announce the appointment of John Canan as the organization’s new Disability Resource Coordinator (DRC), effective May 26, 2026. Mr. Canan will be based at the Oneonta Career Center, where he will support workforce system partners and job seekers across the region.
John Canan brings over 10 years of experience in program coordination, case management, and community-based services, with a strong focus on supporting individuals navigating complex systems. His background includes direct work with underserved populations, intake and assessment processes, and cross-agency collaboration.
Most recently, Mr. Canan served as a Dispute Resolution Center Coordinator with Catholic Charities, where he facilitated intake, coordinated services for court-referred and community participants, and collaborated with courts, mediators, and partner agencies to ensure effective service delivery.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Canan held leadership and program management roles with Community Mediation Centers and operated his own consulting business supporting nonprofit and community organizations.
Mr. Canan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Community Development from Prescott College and a Conversational Leadership Certification and is recognized for his trauma-informed, client-centered approach.
In his new role, Mr. Canan will work to expand the capacity and access of the workforce system for individuals with disabilities and support inclusive employment pathways throughout Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties.
