Prayer Partner Alliance
June 2018

Welcome Summer!

The month of June is filled with abundant sunshine, the sounds of birds, the beauty of blooming flowers, and refreshing afternoon showers in beautiful southwest Florida. As we move into the summer season we would like to t
h ank you for being a member of the Prayer Partner Alliance and for keeping this ministry in your prayers! As a partner in this journey, your prayers and support have encouraged us every step of the way.  It is through prayer that God will reveal to us His plans for the future of Protected Harbor and our very special residents.  We thank you for your continued support and for keeping this ministry in your prayers!

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. May God richly bless you!
For HIS Glory,
Bob Schubring, President
We are Looking for a Volunteer Coordinator

Protected Harbor is looking for a volunteer to serve as a coordinator for our volunteers. This volunteer position includes coordinating groups who want to do a service project with the men's or women's home, contacting volunteers (by phone or email), and thanking them for their contributions in a variety of ways. It also includes working with volunteer lists on the computer. The time commitment is about 5 hours per week. You can make a real difference in the lives of our residents and help the generous people who volunteer with us.

If you have the time and like working with people who want to help others, please call Bob Schubring at 239-248-7449. If this type of volunteer service is not right for you, then please join us in prayer that God will send us the right volunteer to aid us in our mission.

"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ"

The Ellis' Took Their First Vacation Alone in Over 5 Years!

Pat and Whitey Ellis, the parents of our beloved Dennis, have taken their first vacation alone in over 5 years. As you can imagine, traveling with an individual with special needs is no small feat, so vacations are few and far in between for the Ellis Family. Because God has blessed us with a men's home, Dennis and his best-friend and roommate Jacob, are happily living in Protected Harbor's newest residence.

Pat and Whitey are very happy their son is in good hands, and the two of them recently took a road trip to northern Georgia. On their trip, they stayed in a cabin in Blue Ridge, a mountain town located on the border of Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Pat Ellis said the highlight of their trip was the Blue Ridge scenic railway tour. The 4 hour train ride begins in the historic downtown district of Blue Ridge, GA and continues through the beautiful Toccoa River before arriving in Copperhill, Tennessee. The two enjoyed some time together in the charming mountain village nestled in the Chattahoochee National Forest. They are both very grateful that God has blessed us with a home for Dennis, made possible by your prayers and generous support.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope"
Jeremiah 29:11

Dennis and Jacob Love their New Home!

Since the completion of the men's home, Dennis and Jacob are very happy to live together in their Protected Harbor home. The men have had a very busy month. On May 5th, they celebrated with the women of Protected Harbor and many other friends by attending the Cinco De Mayo Fiesta at Stonebridge Country Club put together by the STARability Foundation. Along with lots of festive hats and delicious taco-bar, the men and women of Protected Harbor got to enjoy a wonderful evening full of dancing and socializing.

Dennis and Jacob are really enjoying living without their parents, and Ginny (one of the house parents) has shared how the men are really learning a lot by being in a more independent environment. They are learning to do laundry, helping with cleaning up after meals, and making sure the house stays tidy. When they are not at home, Dennis and Jacob enjoy attending  Goodwill's Life Group classes, along with some of their favorite pastimes: baseball, bowling and golf.

In May, Dennis got to celebrate his 48th Birthday with a wonderful party in his new home, accompanied by friends and family and loved ones. We would like to thank you for your continued support. We ask you join us in thanks and praise for God's blessings, which made all of this possible.

Gentle Giants Provide T herapy  for Protected Harbor Residents

Tiffany and Kimber are very grateful that they are able to ride horses with the help of the Special Equestrians program in Fort Myers. Special Equestrians, Inc. is a United Way Partner Agency which provides therapeutic horseback riding and equine assisted activities to children and adults with disabilities. Special Equestrians is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charity in Fort Myers that several of God's Protected Harbor's members are part of. Every Tuesday night, Tiffany and Kimber enjoy 30 minutes of therapeutic horseback riding, which is something they love to do. Tiffany has been participating for many years, and she was named Rider of the Year in 2015 for her hard work and dedication to the program. We thank God for the financial resources that make it possible for each Protected Harbor home to have a passenger van to transport our residents to special activities such as these. Your support and donations help provide transportation to programs that truly enhance and enrich the lives of Protected Harbor's residents

"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Colossians 3:17

Increase Your Impact Through Monthly Giving

Did you know that a recurring gift of $100 given each month throughout the year can be more impactful than a single gift of $1,200? When you pledge to give a monthly gift, you provide Protected Harbor with an ongoing source of income that can help sustain the programming over time.

Your monthly gift of any size will help sustain the work we are doing in the lives of our residents. Whether you have a special place in your heart for the ladies' home, want to help the men grow and thrive in their new home, or have a vision for what comes next in this ministry, your gift will make a real and lasting difference.

Your generosity allows us to act on God's Will as we move forward in our work.  Please prayerfully consider making a monthly gift today!
