News from The Flint
The Flint Public Library is maintained by a small staff and group of volunteers, and our services are offered to communities that include vulnerable populations. Flint Public Library’s highest priority is the health and well-being of library users, staff, and volunteers as we continue to take precautionary measures in order to keep our community safe.

Please note that patrons ages 2+ are required to wear a mask covering both their mouth and nose at all times while visiting and utilizing the services of The Flint Public Library.
Lobby Pick-Up Hours

At this time, we are currently offering lobby pick-up of library books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines. Librarians are available by phone (978-774-8132) or email (flint3@comcast.net) to take your requests or answer any questions. Patrons are also able to place their own hold requests via our online catalog.

Please see Flint Public Library's website for our most up-to-date Lobby Pick-Up Procedure before your next pick-up at the library. Patrons are required to wear a mask at all times while visiting the library.

Sunday, June 13 will be the last day that we are offering our Lobby Pick-Up service.

Going forward, we will be allowing patrons to pick up their holds from the Circulation desk during our Adult Browsing hours (please continue reading under 'Browsing at The Flint' to learn more.)

Patrons that are unable to pick up their holds within the building can call the library upon arrival (978.774.8132) and a librarian can bring your holds out to you.
Browsing at The Flint

At this time, we are excited to offer browsing and limited computer use at our library!

As always, the safety of our library patrons and the safety of our staff are of the utmost importance to us. Please note that patrons ages 2+ are required to wear a mask covering both their mouth and nose at all times while visiting and utilizing the services of The Flint Public Library.

From June 1-June 11, walk-in browsing hours of Adult and Young Adult materials will be offered on:
Fridays 1:00-4:30 PM

Walk-in browsing is available in the Adult and Young Adult sections of the library (the Children's Room will be unavailable to browse at this time), and we ask that patrons limit their visits to 30 minutes. Computers are available in our meeting room for a limited amount of time on a first-come, first-served basis. We ask that patrons review our Browsing Guidelines prior to their visit so that they can resume the joy of browsing in a safe and organized way. Beginning June 15, we are extending our walk-in browsing hours of Adult and Young Adult materials. Walk-in browsing hours of Adult and Young Adult materials will be offered on:
Tuesdays & Wednesdays 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Thursdays 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Fridays 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Sundays 1:00 - 5:00 PM

Walk-in browsing is available in the Adult and Young Adult sections of the library (the Children's Room will be unavailable to browse at this time), and we ask that patrons limit their visits to 30 minutes. Beginning June 29, we are offering browsing of Children materials by appointment only. Children's browsing appointments will be offered on:
Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Please see our website or online calendar to learn more about reserving your appointment for browsing of Children's materials. Please note that during in-person visits, masks are required for all patrons ages 2 and up. Younger children without masks must be in a stroller, carrier, or held by their adult at all times. There are no toys or art supplies available in the Children's Room. Visits are restricted to browsing materials and participating in the summer reading program. Thank you for your understanding as we work to happily and safely serve your family.

Personalized Book+ Bundles Available for All Ages

Interested in checking out materials from the library, but unsure of where to start? Let your librarians help you by creating personalized book+ bundles! Request a bundle for your desired age group and pick up your materials through our Lobby Pick-Up service or during our Adult Browsing Hours!


  • Teen Book Bundles can be requested by emailing Nicole (ncardarelli@flintpublib.org) or by calling the library (978.774.8132)

  • Adult Book/DVD bundles Adults can be requested by emailing Justin (jliberti@flintpublib.org) or by calling the library (978.774.8132)

Please note that you must have a valid library card in order to request a bundle. If you do not have a card, please call the library (978.774.8132) for further assistance.

Book/DVD bundles will be available for pick-up in our lobby pick-up program or during our Adult Browsing hours. Please wait for a notification that your items are ready before visiting to pick them up. You will be notified by email, phone, or text, depending upon your account preferences.

Outdoor Book Drops

At this time, our outdoor book drops are available for returns. Please note that items returned in our book drops will remain in quarantine for 24 hours before being checked in and removed from patron accounts. If you have any questions about due dates please log in to your account via our catalog, or call the library and a librarian will assist you.
Summer Reading Programs
Children's Summer Reading Challenge

It's going to be quite the wild summer for kids when it comes to Flint Public Library's 2021 Children's Summer Reading Challenge: Tails and Tales!

Our summer reading program for children will run from July 8 to August 20 with the option of participating online or in-person. Registration begins in July with a special *outdoor event to kick off our program! Keep an eye on Flint Public Library's website, Facebook page, and our July newsletter for more information.

Teen Summer Reading Challenge

Calling all teen-readers! We are excited to share Flint Public Library's 2021 Teen Summer Reading Challenge: Tails and Tales!

This hybrid in-person/online program will run from June 21st to August 13th with several weeks worth of opportunities to be entered into our summer reading prize raffles. Prizes will include free books and candy, a Worlds of Wonder coloring package, and gift cards to Richardson's Ice Cream and Sol Bean.

Adult Summer Reading Challenge

The Flint Public Library's 2021 Adult Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to diversify your reading and get out of your comfort zone!

This program will run from June 21st to August 13th, concluding with our summer reading raffle where we'll be giving away three incredible prizes, including gift cards to Maggie's Farm, Richardson's Ice Cream, and Winfrey's Fudge & Chocolates.

STEM with Miss Stacey

Join Miss Stacey for a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) video featuring lessons and activities that you can view and do at home with your children using materials you probably already have around your home.

Look out below! In this month's Stay-at-Home STEM video, Miss Stacey talks a little about gravity and air resistance while showing us how to make toy parachutes! All of the materials you need for this take-and-make activity will be available at the holds pick-up desk. A materials list will be posted to our Facebook page for those who may not be able to get to the library to pick up a take-and-make kit.

Taiji Qigong is an easy-to-learn system of energy-enhancing exercises, which coordinates movement with breathing and inner concentration.
