AB: Invitation for Feedback on Revisions to Directive 065
|
The proposed changes clarify the application requirements for CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR), storage, and CO2 sequestration schemes, also known as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) schemes.
The following sections have been changed to reflect current regulatory and operational requirements:
- “Whom to Notify” under the section “Resources Applications Notification Guidelines” - for CO2 EOR storage and CO2 sequestrations
- Unit 2, “Conservation” - application requirements for CO2 EOR storage schemes
- Unit 4, “Disposal/Storage” - requirements for CO2 sequestration schemes

AB: Reminder – Directional Surveys Submission |
As of December 6, 2021, the AER is no longer accepting email directional survey submissions in PDF format. Industry is required to submit directional survey data in OneStop using new directional survey templates (.xlsx or.csv).

AB: Directive 050 Correction
|
A corrected edition of Directive 050: Drilling Waste Management has been released on June 1, 2022. The following sections have been corrected to reflect current regulatory and operational requirements:
- Section 2, “Overview of Drilling Waste Management Methods,” requirement 4
- Section 6.4, “Remote Site Requirements,” requirement 73
- Section 8.3, “Disposal Onto Forested Public Lands Disposal Requirements,” requirements 86 through 89, 91(a)(c), and 92(a)(b)
- Section 9.3, “Pump-off Disposal Requirements,” requirement 99

AB: New Functionality Moving to OneStop |
Well Logs
Submitters will have the ability to add raster and Log ASCII Standard (LAS) files for well logs with an event sequence greater than nine.
Public Lands Act (PLA) Waivers
Effective June 16, 2022, disposition holders must submit Public Lands Act (PLA) waivers as “Submissions” in OneStop. Following June 15, 2022, emailed waivers will no longer be accepted.
Public Lands Application Process
The Land section in OneStop will be enhanced to reflect policy changes made to the Land Use Reservation Program (LURP) by Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP).
Manual 018: OneStop Public Lands Application will be updated to reflect policy changes made to LURP and to provide guidance on enhancements being made to the Land section in OneStop.
Record of Site Condition (RoSC) Module
Several enhancements will be made to the RoSC module in OneStop, including the removal of several assessment criteria. Fewer assessment criteria will result in more baseline low-risk activity, including the automatic acceptance of low-risk Remedial Action Plans (RAPs).

SK: Disposal Well Licence Question D39 |
On June 2, 2022, the Ministry of Energy and Resources (ER) announced that Disclosure Question D39 description has been updated to ask for detailed information on 3rd party substances. To provide better clarity, this enhancement updated Disclosure Question D39’s description and added follow-up questions for industry to provide detailed information on the well licence application.

BC: Removal of Access to Crown Land for Offsite Investigation Application Form |
As of June 6, 2022, the BCOGC will no longer accept the Access to Crown Land for Offsite Investigation Application Form from permit holders who require use of Crown land for investigative purposes. This form has been removed from the Commission’s website and clarification has been added to the Site Remediation and Reclamation Manual.

BC: Data Issue with Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Site Selection |
Due to a data error, wells with a Well Authorization Number greater than 32000 were not included in the original report Permit holders relying on the report to plan 2022 LDAR well surveys should review the updated report to ensure all producing wells were considered in their site selections.
