Opportunity for Your K-8 Students to Become Inventors and Innovators!

The Illinois Student Invention Convention is offering opportunities to implement a design and engineering program to engage your students in innovation and invention. The program is free, flexible and standards-based, with over 22,000 students already having completed the program. Traditional implementation is to lead two sessions per week (30-45 minutes each) over the course of ten weeks. Variations are acceptable. Interested? Learn more. STEM Network Meeting - Wednesday, October 4, 2023; 4:00 - 5:15 pm

The location has yet to be determined but you want to be certain to attend to learn and share with other STEM educators. Register here so that we can prepare and notify you of the location. Attendees will be eligible to receive STEM trinkets, treasures, and maybe even a raffle prize! Mark your calendars for the other 2023-24 STEM Network dates: December 6, February 7, and May 1. The DuPage ROE STEM Program - We Are Here to Support You

Plan now for your FY24 STEM Trunks and events. Below is a list of some of the ways through which the STEM Squad can support your efforts. Also included a few pictures of some of our recent events. More information is available by emailing Mary Biniewicz.

STEM Trunks for grades K-12 can be arranged for delivery and pick up at your school.
A STEM Squad member can assist you with planning a STEM event.
We also offer the opportunity for us to facilitate an activity at your STEM event.
After-school STEM workshops grade 5-8 students are available throughout the year.

Who Knew You Could Do All This with Carboard Tubes?

Don't throw out paper towel and bathroom tissue tubes! Use them to create items that range from sports equipment to musical instruments to launchers, and more. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Smithsonian Science for Makerspaces

These free engineering design challenges engage youth in emerging technologies through hands-on learning. Inspired by Smithsonian Science for the Classroom, these activities bridge formal science education and the makerspace movement within the context of STEAM by involving students in make something new.

The Genius of Play

NGCP partnered with The Genius of Play to develop activities that spark children's interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). The STEAM playbook gives parents and educators tools that are easily set up with materials you can find at home or in the classroom. The STEAM playbook was designed with learners of all ages in mind and is complete with tips for modifying activities to challenge young minds with different levels of complexity.
