Stimulate your senses, creativity and strength combining NATURE and YOGA! Participate in postures, breathing techniques, guided imagery and games to develop confidence, peace and a strong sense of self. Classes will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Taught by a learning behavioral specialist and certified yoga instructor.

Summer after summer this is always a popular class! The instructor Erica does a great job of making this class fun along with teaching kids the skills needed to feel calm, confident and empowered.

Kayaking for Fitness

Take your workout to the water! Discover the mind and body health benefits of fitness paddling. As an overall stress-reducing workout, you’ll improve upper body strength, firm up your abs and lose weight. Paddling happily through the waters can burn between 200 and 1,200 calories depending on your intensity.

Why I chose this program: 

Kayaking is a low impact workout that takes you closer to nature than any other fitness activity. Grab a friend and enjoy the river from a different point of view!

Flag Football Camp

Come join in on the fun and start playing the nation’s most loved game! Players are introduced to stance, receiving, rushing, blocking and defense. Each day ends with a scrimmage encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Players always get to play either receiver or running back every day. Games focus on fundamentals and field concepts, as well as positions and mechanics.

Why I chose this program: 

This is an exciting NEW camp that has been added for the summer at Sportsplex. It's a great way for young athletes to improve and learn new football skills. Campers will have fun and meet new friends!

Competition is a process where you practice what you have learned and find confidence on the tennis court. Here’s a great opportunity to get some extra match play for all tennis enthusiasts. Participate in point based drills and then supervised match play. Held outdoors at STCE tennis courts.

I think it is very important for junior players to not just take lessons, but to actually learn to compete. This program gives junior players who are excited about match play an opportunity to compete against other players in both drill and match formats. A Norris tennis professional will be monitoring both drill and match play segments.

This is a fantastic way to spend a Friday morning with your favorite 50+ golf buddies. If you have never played the Pottawatomie Golf Course, now is your chance. Beautifully maintained along the Fox River, this scenic par 35 is designed for all skill levels of golfers. You can win prizes and enjoy lunch once you’re done…there’s nothing better! I hope to see you out on the greens in June!

Blast away the fat! Join this group training exercise program with bands, light weights and a treadmill to learn zone training and interval training. Start with a pre-assessment from a certified fitness trainer to gain a better understanding of body composition.

Splashes, Dashes & Spokes Youth Triathlon

This event is focused around children getting a taste of a triathlon in a safe and comfortable setting. Participants will swim at Otter Cove, bike around James O. Breen Community Park and run in the grass soccer fields to finish off the race. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the athletes! Register by July 1 to secure an Early Bird rate.

This event is ideal for kids that have always wanted to compete in a triathlon. It's a great way to stay active and have fun, and perfect for both beginner and experienced athletes. Splashes, Dashes & Spokes is a great race to kick off the love for racing in Triathlons in a friendly park district setting.
