As the country begins to reopen, we understand retailers are still experiencing difficulties, and we want to assure you that the Eco-Friendly team is here to support your green efforts. When the timing is right, we encourage you to use your Subaru Eco-Friendly status to assure customers that even in times like these, your store is focused on the environment.
Retailer Garden Roundup
With more time at home, gardening has exploded as a hobby this spring. This may be a new interest for many, but not for Eco-Friendly Retailers. Here are a few retailer gardens on-site and in the community.
Larry H Miller Subaru Boise created an on-site vegetable garden with a local school, helping students make connections between environmental sustainability, healthy eating, and science in the garden.
Planet Subaru’s food forest includes pears, peaches, persimmons, apples, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Students from a nearby school helped with the initial planting and perform all farming duties. The bounty goes to local food banks.
Bob Moore Subaru associates helped a local school insulate its vegetable gardens and included the project in an Eco-Friendly video .
An on-site organic vegetable garden was started 10 years ago at Patriot Subaru . It is still active today and tended by Patriot associates. Customers waiting for vehicle service have even helped pull weeds.
Ramsey Subaru NJ helped a local school plant a garden to grow vegetables and attract pollinators.
To explain the growth process, Curry Subaru and local school children planted a sunflower garden right outside the retailer's front door.
Eco-Displays Tell Story of Environmental Commitment
Do you feel stuck on the design for your new eco-display? Ready to give your current display an upgrade?  Take a look at what other retailers have done. Some choose a framed poster as a temporary starting point, some design an entire wall, and others even include live plants. No matter the design, displays allow each retailer to tell the story of its environmental commitment.

As business slowly starts returning to normal at different paces throughout the country, it is important to get the word out to your customers that your store is open, and, of course, use social media to ensure your customers are informed of your store’s Subaru Eco-Friendly Certification. Accordingly, it is crucial to have a social media calendar to plan an effective content mix. The calendar can be something as simple as a Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that keeps all of the planned posts (copy, images, links, etc.) in one place for easy access, eliminating any last-minute scrambles. You can read more about social media calendars b y clicking this link .
Did your store promote its Eco-Friendly certification on social media recently?
If so, email Megan Fleck , Subaru Eco-Friendly program lead, for a chance to be featured in an upcoming newsletter.
Looking for a way to increase employee recycling? Make it easy.

Your employees are busy, right? Sometimes recycling can get overshadowed by primary job responsibilities. Use these two steps to simplify your recycling program and increase employee recycling.

Bin Placement
Place recycling bins in easily accessible areas: break rooms, offices, and next to copiers and printers. Talk with service technicians to determine the best areas for bins in the shop.

Signage
Clearly and consistently label bins so busy employees immediately know what items belong in each bin.
Let us know how you make recycling easy.
