JUNE TIDINGS 2023

Worship on Sunday June 4, 2023 at 10:00am

Worship: The Musical

"The Mighty Fortress Is Our God"

Also Communion Sunday

This service will NOT be live streamed - it is in-person only.

FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR

Reflecting on the Day of Pentecost which we celebrated last Sunday, and the good news of the Holy Spirit filling and dwelling in us, here's a favorite quote of mine that I'd like to share with you -- some inspiring words to carry you through the month.

"We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out." - Ray Bradbury

THANK YOU

A Huge "Thank You" to everyone who made Pentecost Sunday's worship service and picnic afterward the special event that it was. - Pastor Will

FROM THE MUSIC DIRECTOR

Hello Trinity Community,

I hope everyone has found some connection with the community and God in this season of new life and growth. I have extremely enjoyed the life that has shown in our church community over the past weeks. Thank you to everyone who has been present, both online and in-person. It is a pleasure to share worship with all of you!

Please make sure June 4th is marked in your calendar so you don’t miss out on a unique service we are preparing called “Worship: The Musical” with a theme of “A Mighty Fortress is Our God”. The service will include many of the same elements of a traditional service, including Congregation Singing, Faith Formations, Special Music, & Communion. But the twist comes with using music to support 90% of the service time. You won’t want to miss this blended service using some familiar and inspiring arrangements of hymns, musical standards, and improvised transitions. Unfortunately, we will not be live streaming this service, so we hope you can make it in person.

You have one more chance to hear the Worship Band and the Adult Voice Choir before they take their Summer Break until September. The Worship Band will be accompanying the service on Youth Sunday, June 11th, and performing a fun tune by Zac Brown Band. The Voice Choir will present an arrangement of “We are Marching in the Light of God” that uses South African translations on June 18th. Come support them as they share their talents!

Speaking of sharing talents…during the months of July and August, I am bringing back the moment for “Sharing of Gifts” in place of the typical “Special Music” time. Maybe you wrote a speech to inspire others, or a poem that expresses who you truly are and you want an audience to hear your words. Perhaps you have a secret talent that helps you connect with God and you want to share. Even a testimony of a God Moment can be your “gift”. I encourage everyone to reflect on what your talents or gifts from God might be (music not required). If you feel inspired to contribute to our service, my door (or email) is always open!

Reminder for Sound System Seminar: Are you looking for a way to help our services that doesn’t put you in the “spotlight”? Are you interested in how a Sound System works? In the summer months, we will be holding a one-time “Sound Tech Training” to help build a pool of volunteers who could take turns helping with sound during a service and future Coffee House Mic Nights. If you want more information or want to be added to the notification list for this event, reach out to me via email or catch me after a service.

As always, remember that the power of the church is the people. When we come together for the purpose of God’s work, great things will happen. Music brings people together.

Until We Meet Again,

Scott Arnold (he/him)

Music Director of

FULLER CENTER FOR HOUSING

BIKE ADVENTURE 2023

Fuller Center for Housing Bike Adventure

Trinity will be hosting 35 bike riders who will be on their way from Georgia to Portland, ME on June 21, 2023. The bike group is sponsored by the Fuller Center for Housing which was founded by Millard and Linda Fuller in 2005 after a long career with Habitat for Humanity. One of the things the foundation does to raise money in their quest to provide adequate shelter for all people is sponsor bike rides across America to raise money and work on houses.

Trinity will be giving the riders a place to sleep and we will be preparing dinner for them on June 21st. We hope you will join us for dinner and conversation with the riders to hear about their adventure and the home building they’ve done along the way. Dinner will be complimentary. We just ask that you let us know so we will know how much to prepare. It will also be helpful if you can bring a dessert to share.

There will be approximately 35 people from the Fuller Center so we will need lots of dessert. We’ll be sending out a questionnaire this week so you can let us know if you will attend and that you’ll be able to bring dessert.

More information about the foundation and the bike adventure are available at:
