WORDS FROM WILL

SPRING INTO SUMMER

As Easter has given way to Pentecost, and Pentecost into the Christian season of Ordinary Time, spring begins its shift into summer this month.

In the life of the Church, as in the life of nature, seasons change with purpose.

The bright energy of springtime gradually settles into the warmth and fullness of summer, inviting us to notice not only the world around us, but also the movement of God within us.

Summer is often a season when life seems to slow down, at least a little. It is a time for relaxation, for travel, for recreation, for cookouts and outdoor concerts, and for the simple joys of gardening and being outdoors. These months can offer a welcome change of pace, a chance to breathe more deeply and to step, even briefly, out of the busyness that fills so much of the year.

At Trinity Church, summer brings its own seasonal shift as well. In July and August, our worship services move from the sanctuary into the cooler space of Fellowship Hall, and many of our regular activities begin to slow down. The rhythm of church life becomes a little quieter, a little simpler, and perhaps a little more spacious.

Yet in this slower-paced time, there is one important thing I invite you to do as a spiritual being: pay attention— more than you usually do.

Notice the beauty around you, the quiet moments you might normally miss, the conversations that nourish you, and the ways God may be speaking in ordinary days. Summer can be more than a season of leisure; it can also become a season of awareness, gratitude, and spiritual renewal.

As we spring into summer this month, may we do so with open hearts, attentive spirits, and a renewed readiness to encounter God in both the extraordinary and the everyday.

Blessings,

Pastor Will

WORSHIP TEAM

In July and August, we will meet for Worship in Fellowship Hall. We will not be streaming on FaceBook.

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming Potluck Breakfasts during Worship: July 12th and Aug 9th

OUTREACH TEAM

Climate Hope Affiliates

On May 27th, Outreach team members John, Nancy and Jean attended an organizational meeting of the Shrewsbury Chapter of Climate Hope Affiliates at First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury.

This is a UCC initiative to start local groups that are interested in raising awareness locally about climate change, and advocating for climate issues with our federal senators and representatives.

Although this is UCC-based, the group is open to anyone, and the first meeting had representatives from four churches. If you or someone you know is passionate about saving our planet and looking for a way to make a difference, please have them contact Jean at jhleif@gmail.com.

JUNE EVENTS

♪ SCOTT’S MUSIC NOTES ♫

Hello Trinity Church Community!

The month of May seemed to go out as fast as it came in. We were blessed with presentations of talents from our Music Ministry, which were wonderful, as well as the heartfelt singing and fellowship from all of you. Not to mention to turn out for our community events like the Fashion Show and Coffee House.

Check out what musical happenings are planned for the month of June…

  • June 7th - With a combination of a Baptism, Communion, & Pride Sunday, we will have an eclectic combination of music, including a lively spiritual performed by the Voice Choir called “Elijah Rock”.
  • June 14th - Service music supported by Worship Band, including an inspiring song called “Be a Light” for the Special Music.
  • Music & Movement Time with Mr. Scott for children following the service.
  • June 21st - In honor of Graduate Sunday, the Voice Choir will share a song called “Growing in God’s Grace” for the Special Music.
  • June 28th - I will be taking this week off to recover from the finish of the school year. In my absence, Pam Jones had graciously offered to support the service music with her lovely piano skills.

Our Song of the Month for June will be the Praise & Worship song “As the Deer” by Marty Nystrom. This modern hymn has a beautiful melody and follows the traditional verse-chorus format, so I feel it will speak to the hearts of all generations. You can listen to it HERE. We also will continue to use the “3-fold Amen” (#314 in the Chalice Hymnal) for our Sung Benediction to close our weekly services.

The addition of new faces and voices to our worship seems to have given a spirit of new life to our community. I hope each of you can find some way to support and help the good work happening at Trinity Church. Our faith community has a superpower of LOVE. The more we come together for the purpose of sharing God’s Love, the more of a light we shine into our world.

Until We Meet Again,

Scott Arnold (he/him)

NORTHBOROUGH FOOD PANTRY

EXTERIOR RESTORATION AND MAINTANENCE TASK FORCE UPDATE

CAPITAL PROJECTS UPDATE

The scaffolding around the church tower has been removed, marking the completion of Phase 1 of the tower restoration!

In addition, the roof over the church addition has been repaired, giving us a jump start on the other capital projects needed to propel our church building into its third century.

The next major undertaking will be the insulation of the building to enhance its comfort during cold winter and hot summer days and to significantly reduce the church’s energy costs.

Most of the cost will be covered by the Mass Save program, but the church will be responsible for some preparation and finish work to optimize the effect of the insulation project.

The church will soon commission a Capital Campaign Executive Team to raise funds for these and other important and exciting improvements.
