Jean started at the DCIU in 1994. Through OPTIONS, Jean has worked as a site trainer at Delaware County Memorial, Taylor, Springfield and Bryn Mawr Hospitals, Swarthmore and Haverford Colleges, The Thrift Shop on the Ave, Media and Marple apartments. Jean has also job coached at Villanova University.
I asked Jean if she had any special memories: "I will always remember one incident. It was a freezing cold day at Swarthmore College, me and a student walked so fast from Bond Hall to Sharples Hall and by the time we got there we were short of breath and I told him " oh my, don't ever get old!" - he looked at me so sweetly and I thought he was going to give me a compliment and then he replied; Jean, you're not old, you just look it"
I still laugh thinking of that day!
One of Jean's former students fondly remembers Jean and stated, "Ms. Jean is a nice teacher. She is funny and always helpful. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to have her as a site trainer when I was an OPTIONS student. I am also glad that even though I graduated, she still keeps in touch with me."
Lastly, Jean said; "I will remember all of my co workers and students fondly. As far as my plans for after retirement, I do not know~ but I am excited to see what is behind the next door."
Thank you, Jean, for all of your years of service and dedication to the students of the OPTIONS Transition Program!
Enjoy your retirement!
