Volunteer News & Updates

June 2023

GROWTH.

We know there are many places you could choose to volunteer, and we are humbled you chose to partner with Senior Care Volunteer Network serving and caring for seniors. Each year we try to strengthen our volunteer program and the feedback and input we gather from our annual volunteer survey helps us gauge what we are doing well, what is important to you and where we could improve. We want this to be a place you love to tell others about and a place that brings you joy giving back to your community. So whether you have been with us a month or over ten years, you matter and your voice is valuable and we hope you'll share it through the survey below.

In the theme of growing, we are still a hidden gem to many people in the county, and we are working hard to reach those who have not heard of our services or volunteer opportunities. We would welcome the opportunity to share SCVN with your workplace, your church, your neighborhood, or a professional or civic organization you are a part of. You are our number one referral source and we want to thank you for sharing us with your family and friends.

Summer is here and we've stocked our freezer with ice cream novelties especially for you. If you are doing a delivery, picking up groceries, giving a lift, here at the office, or just in the neighborhood, please stop in for a sweet frozen treat. We wish you a wonderful summer filled with laughter, good health and cherished memories with loved ones.

  With gratitude,

Kerri Sutter

Driver News Graphic

Scott Rebman

Transportation Specialist

As the weather turns warmer more care receivers are requesting rides and I wanted to share these reminders with our valued drivers. Please be sure and read any trip notes before selecting a request. Important information about the number of passengers, medical equipment, special needs, or vehicle size are often noted.

Only approved care givers and family members may accompany a CR and it will be in the request. All CR’s must be ambulatory, and able to get into and out of the car with little to no assistance. SCVN does not transport any wheelchairs or transport chairs. However, canes, walkers and rollators may be transported, and volunteers may help with collapsing, storing, and retrieving these items. All medical equipment should be placed safely in the volunteer’s trunk or back seat away from the care receiver.

As volunteers, you truly become the eyes and ears of our organization and we are grateful for you. As CR’s age, there may be changes physically or cognitively that warrants our attention or reevaluation. Your safety and the safety of our CR’s is a top priority, please contact me with your questions or concerns. Thank you for all you do, you make my job incredibly rewarding! Enjoy the sunshine!

7/19, 6-8pm | Woodstock Band Concert on the Square

We have an amazing team of student volunteers this summer and one of them plays the oboe in the city band. Did you notice?

If you noticed a different logo in the newsletter, you're right! We are excited to roll out this updated version of our logo, continuing the legacy of our wonderful organization. You'll start seeing it being used in marketing materials, on shirts, and included in other areas throughout the office and community.

Have shirts or name tags with the old logo? Not to fret! We'll be updating things over the coming year, so keep wearing your SCVN swag with pride!
