Welcome Back Letter from Diana
Five Hundred years ago, an essayist named Michel de Montaigne said, “My life has been filled with terrible misfortune; most of which never happened." 

Now, as qualitative research has become more and more used with such topics, scientists have shown that approximately 85% of what we worry about never comes to be. And, of the remaining 15%, only about 21% of that comes to be as we might imagine but in lessons that those studied called “very meaningful”. So what does this mean to us today? In my way of seeing all of this… it means probably everything. 

I am not, at all, saying that we do not have things occurring that should not present feelings of concern, worry, fear, or any other feelings. Rather, I am reminding that we have choices and that our feelings have powerful purposes— to destroy our health and stop us from life is not what they are for. 

With our country and entire world trying to figure out so many things right now, I have said to all of my students and clients that we are in a very real practice of yoga.  Learning to be right here in this present moment, the only space where life actually exists, has been so challenging I am sure for some at times. What is our next best step in this moment, tomorrow, next week, next school year, or next year? I have said this so many times, “All of our feelings are important. WE label them ‘good’ and ‘bad’ or ‘positive’ and negative’. They are just communicators and guides and if we allow them to be just that, they will not effect our health so much or if at all.” Fear is important. It tells us that a situation is harmful to our well being and we should make a change for protection. But once that change is in place and the danger is not in our presence any longer, that should be it. Concern or worry can be a guide to help us make plans for protection. But, once we make those plans and have them in place based on research, asking questions, and connecting with our instincts, then we take action and the worry/concern served its purpose. "I am concerned that my weight gain is going to cause a major health issue.” I hear that all the time. I am happy they have that concern because it motivated them to come see me and take action. But, dwelling on it won’t fix it. We set up a plan based on many things and we begin action. The concern was the motivator… that’s good! Or when our kids sense fear like “stranger danger” and take action… that’s good! Or when we see someone and recognized in their eyes and energy that they feel safe and loving and we begin a conversation that leads to a friendship…that's good! This is their purpose. It’s when we are not supported in following the guide of our feelings or we don’t know where to do the research for our next best step when we have concerns, worries, or fears that these feelings begin to sit too long with us and the rumination wears us down. Then, the part of our mind that is designed to look for the answers (that’s its job and it’s just trying to do it) starts looking frantically all over because, again, we need support and guidance…we ALL do. 

I felt concern to reopen essence. I have felt fears for so many topics since this began. But, in my meditations and work to figure out the next best steps, my feelings started to shift and in my mind’s eye I could see a new way of being. Then, once implementing the action and being in the studio, I really started to feel different and safe. It is not the time for all of us to start to shift… and that’s ok. The way we will be doing things are different for now and maybe for some it doesn’t work yet, and that’s ok. But for others, it does work and that’s ok, too. This is why offering both online and in-studio classes was so important to me.

As I begin to slowly open essence after and still during such a dramatic shift in our journey, my staff and I want you to know we are here to help you keep your wellness a priority and to offer a space that allows you to move your body and work through all you are dealing with in a supportive, caring environment that is safe and well thought out for our current situation with COVID and more.  We have implemented all of the guidelines and will diligently follow through so that everyone feels honored and respected but in a way that allows for a calm, peaceful space for you to release and renew. 

One step at a time and with our intuitions and intentions in place as we navigate new ways of functioning.

As we prepare to re-open for in-person classes at essence, it has meant many adjustments and a lot of deep and careful planning in order to re-open safely, and there are some adjustments to accommodate the new reality. We are so excited to be able to work with you at the studio again. However, we also have lots of amazing classes available via Zoom to use from home. Please read ALL thoroughly to make your experience when coming into the studio easy, and to avoid delays in starting back with us. It might seem a little overwhelming at first, but it will be no big deal after a time!

Please watch both videos of  Diana’s Greeting and Studio Walk Through to get a better understanding of the policies and procedures we must adhere to. By signing up for an in-person class, you are indicating you have viewed and understand these policies, and agree to abide by them.

All clients must arrive to the studio parking lot a minimum of 15 minutes before their class or private session OR be logged into their Zoom class.
If this is not in place, we can not promise to be able to allow you in for your in-studio or Zoom session.   We have many safety considerations to consider with the guidelines in place and our staff have many things to prepare for classes and private sessions. Please be on time. 


Everyone entering essence must have a proper mask or face cover on covering both nose and mouth.
Those in cycling classes and other cardiovascular work classes will be permitted to take them off  only during the cardiovascular workout .  These classes are specified in the details of the classes. Masks will be put back on immediately after the workout and if/when leaving the room. Air purifiers will be running in these classes and space guidelines will be sternly enforced. After these classes are done, UV lights will be used to sterilize the room after disinfecting is complete. All of our rooms have outside doors available and they will be kept open at these times with airflow appropriate to clear the room. 

All private clients of Diana’s will need to be wearing a mask during their sessions.  This is a close-contact situation and it is mandatory that this be in place.


You will be sent a text or waved into the studio when it is your time for class/session to begin entering the studio. All clients must enter with 6 feet between each other and we have marked the sidewalk and entrance way with 6 feet markers.  DO NOT enter the studio for any sessions until you are sent a text or given permission.  We legally can not have anyone congregating in the studio and must honor the 6 feet of space rule. 


When entering the doors, ALL clients EACH time much sign that they agree to all COVID studio guidelines and have no exposure risks listed at the door.  ALL clients and staff will have their temperature taken each time and a mask MUST be worn be all entering the building covering both nose and mouth. 


All clients must bring their own bag for storing shoes, water bottles, personal belongings and all must bring their own towel.  We will not have any towels, mats, or small class supplies available. 
Please see the kit Diana is helping many get to have you need (below). Cubbies can not be used by the front desk due to space limitations. The cubbies in the cycle room can be used but some will be marked to not use. The bags in the kit are perfect for such a need and we have made space in all room for bags to sit safely by you on the floor. 


Spaces in class can not be saved.  As you enter your class, please move to the farthest end of the room to keep space guidelines.
Please read the descriptions of each class you sign up for to familiarize yourself with all for that class including entrance door and more. 

If you have questions about your packages or other topics, it is best to call or email the studio. We can not allow congregating and all must leave the studio immediately following your class/session to allow for cleaning and preparing for the next class/session. Our staff will return your class and/or emails. Please be patient as we work to get all set for our clients as we transition back.

  • UV light sterilization is used in hospital rooms including ICU 
  • UV lights kill molds, allergens, viruses, and bacteria and is known to be one of the most powerful sanitizing methods without using toxic chemicals 
  • Takes only 10-15 minutes for all exposed surfaces to be sterilized
  • We will be using these daily at least once along with typical contact sanitizing with wipes and antimicrobial solutions 
  • NO animals, plants, or people can be exposed to this powerful light and it will be done when safety measures are fully in place. 
  • All areas of the studio will be sanitized daily


We have spent quite some time planning and preparing to re-open essence according to the guidelines set forth by the state of Ohio and the Health Department and in accordance with what we intend for all of our staff and clients at essence. If any individual does not honor these guidelines, we will discontinue allowing them to participate in classes and/or private sessions at essence immediately. We do not hope to need to take this action but will do so if necessary. Our goal is to support and protect all as a community. And your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Important Zoom Class Reminders: 

  • Be signed up at least 2 hours before the class begins
  • Zoom link will be sent 1 hour before class begins to your email 
  • Be signed in 15 minutes before class 
  • Ask all in your home to be off the internet for best reception for Zoom classes 
  • You will be on mute during Zoom classes and can send a chat message to the instructor if needed. 
  • For yoga classes, please leave savasana at the beginning or stay on the entire time to avoid being disruptive to the class.

Please consider keeping valuables and things you do not need in your trunk or at home when coming to the studio. Due to space and safety concerns, we cannot have extra belongings in the rooms while classes are going on. Although we take pride in our amazing community and studio, Essence is not responsible for lost or stolen items, and we are hoping to help you prevent any issues while also keeping the studio safe and spacious for everyone.

No recordings, photos, or copying of classes, workshops, or private sessions without written permission from the owner. Please leave all cellular devices on silent/off and in your bag during sessions/classes.

In order to make the space comfortable for everyone, please refrain from wearing colognes or perfumes to class.
